My opinion might surprise some folk, especially being a Paddy.I am definitely not a royalist, have no time for such inherited privilege but i do see the value to Britain and i do think regardless, that she is a marvelous old dear in reality.

not sure how much of a privilege it is for the jelly. it is a strait-jacket for life, with no power, only obligation. you may scoff, but she has never been allowed any freedom, she lives in a gilded cage, and is under horrible scrutiny that you or i would blow up against very quickly. it is an accident of birth. under the circs. i dont think the old bag has done much wrong. since they met mary mcaleese has been boring anyone who will listen that the jelly is a game old bird |

you can oppose the monarchy, but not 'of course'. that implies that being anti-monarchy is politically correct, and unviolable. no room for discussion there. very socialist. there are many arguments pro and and anti but many republicans (uk version) dont make one. they hate it, and thats enough. it is dishonest and anti-democratic

27 million watch Boris deliver his lockdown speech. If you were a broadcaster like Sky or BBC, why would you ever want this nightmare to end I imagine all online papers have also had a sudden upsurge in website hits. With so many people at home with so much more time on their hands Would be daft to want to put a stop to that cash cow. Which is why nobody is really allowed to challenge anything. |
