To be fair they have not exactly been handed a loaded gun. The6 have obviously been brief after this mornings fiasco with Jendrick. At least they waffle with confidence and most people would believe them. They cannot really say we have been slow to realise what needed to be done

Why do people in positions of power and influence find it so difficult to just be open and honest and admit the deficiencies?
Or are they so out of touch with the real world that their advisors fill them full of bullshit and they just spout platitudes to the masses? |

There either needs to be a revised format for these briefings or just can them.
Very little value from them. |

The most unconvincing performance so far. Questions are pointless if they are not going to answer them and instead just make shallow statements. Doubt that we will see that pairing again in a hurry.

I said well over a month ago that the Government haven’t got a clue and don’t know what they are doing. As can be seen currently they can’t even organise testing.
We should be talking now about how and when we can get back to work and save jobs and businesses that are going to fold soon. The public will not stay locked down for much longer than 3 weeks. People will start going out soon and some will be running out of money. Then we will have a public order crisis prior to the oncoming financial or rather business meltdown which will be followed by mass unemployment and food rotting in fields followed by a food crisis later in the year. I am actually quite optimistic we can come out of this but the carry on with these incompetent Government Ministers is alarming. Nobody is able to hold the Government to account. Not Labour, not the Journalists and I genuinely fear the people will not put up with it much longer |
By:
What are you on about? Lapping up the media nonsense about testing.
By:
It's PHE that organise testing, not the cabinet ministers
![]() People rabbiting on about testing, clueless, thinking it's some kind of solution. |
By:
Cabinet ministers are implementing testing caps then removing them .....
Government lifts 15% cap on NHS staff testing NHS England has sent a letter to all trusts saying the government has now lifted the 15% cap on staff testing. The letter states: Effective today we are asking chief executives of trusts that host an NHS lab doing Covid-19 testing personally to ensure that your lab’s capacity is fully used each and every day. This can be achieved by using all spare testing for staff/index testing, either from within your own organisation or those of neighbouring acute and ambulance trusts. As soon as this has been implemented, and as extra lab volumes become available, the approach can over the coming days be extended to community, mental health and primary care services, along with social care. |

To clarify for those in the dark, the CMO clearly stated (weeks ago) their advice was we had crossed the tipping point for testing/contact tracing, and there was no value in directing resources to community testing. Government went along with the sensible advice. They would however bring in community testing to the AB test (the so-called game changer). They weren't to know people in the media would come up with this false narrative as they have to be outraged about something.
By:
So this has turned political, they've been forced into expanding the 'have you got it' test due the media 'outcry'.
By:
Lack of ppe is the main worry, front liners are going to start dropping like flies in the weeks to come.
By:
I don't know for sure Angoose, I assume the cap was in place to ensure there was capacity for actual hospital patients with suspected covid 19 (and Prince Charles!).
