How long have they been talking about ventilators? Apparently they can't get any because several other countries acted sooner, and ordered them first. I read somewhere that normally about 100,000 ventilators are produced Worldwide every year. Guess how many the USA ordered long before our lot acted!

Of course it's going to rise it's an exponential curve and they said the peak is likely 2 weeks away.
There is no surprise here. There surprise would be if it suddenly stopped rising.

The leftie sh1t above is just embarrasing.

Also the lancet guy is an egotistical (other) leftie rewriting recent history and to pick fights with the Tories, who apparently was involved in supporting that ridiculous totally discredited "vaccines are bad" nonsense. Read this, then the comments.

I keep reading this bizarre historical revision by your lefties (who seem about to melt down with hate at the moment) even saying how Boris has the worst response in the world, not even REMOTELY is this the case, indeed many are saying he is OVER reacting. Look at the rest of Europe.

Talk about confirmation bias though, it's textbook.

And on the scale of things, just a few examples, "socialist" Sweden has only recently done anything, Trump is going back and forth like his hair in a crosswind, until the other day India was even denying the disease was spreading at all human to human in their country (then went mad), and this is the best: Belarus leader is doing pretty much nothing and say it'll be cured by Vodka and Saunas.

40 deaths recorded today as extra to those reported in the first 210 deaths as they happened outside hospital testing. Theoretically on the same scale 20 to 25% of deaths aren't getting reported yet. That would vastly inflate today's figure to way over 2,000.

I'm not suggesting that Labour or anybody else would've done any better. But our Govt were slow to react. I hope they get away with it, because I think they are doing the best they can. i just wish they woud stop obfuscating and talking about car makers producing thosands of ventilators as if it is actually happening. I guess, like most people, I'm frustrated and worried by the rise in deaths today. Yesterday I was feeling more optimistic and was ready to give Johnson some credit for not trampling all over people's freedom, while attempting a hugely difficult balancing act. Maybe tomorrow or the next day will bring better news. Let's hope so. I still think Gove is a weirdo, who has no place telling other people what to do.

It's a horrible situation for everyone involved, and getting the messaging correct is nigh on impossible.

I feel a bit sorry for these medical experts being rolled out to deliver messages to the nation on a daily basis.
Clearly they are subject matter experts, well used to addressing audiences. Just not on a national basis.

And the tough part hasn't even started yet.
Unwinding from a lockdown is going to be incredibly difficult.

Unfortunately, the UK is following the same painful path of Italy, Spain, and France.
It will get much worse before it starts to get better.

Just sheeple buying the socialist media brainwashing diatribe.

It's pretty clear there are NHS workers using the situation to push an agenda. Typically from London or Birmingham.

Has everyone got every bit of kit they need on demand, probably not but there's over a million people to supply, probably closer to two.

The daily press conferences are becoming a hindrance as not a lot will change now, but the media wants a new stick to beat the government with.
Report 1st time poster March 31, 2020 8:36 PM BST
rather than hospitals waiting for ppe deliveries that may be wrong gear, wrong amount, why don't they divide it into say 6 warehouses, at least, one say maximum 2 hrs from any trust and let the trusts/hospitals go get their own gear,
think the biggest problem is like said elsewhere some unions [rightly ] demanding the ppe the WHO say you should have, and not what hancock says is adequate
Report Cider March 31, 2020 8:40 PM BST
That's what Jenny was saying, in her polite manner. I can appreciate it's scary for the NHS workers on the front line. But it's clear some are demanding more than what's deemed needed for the tasks they are carrying out.

Ok so swearing at me really goes a long way to underpinning your argument.

What job are you doing that requires medical PPE?
Report Ibrahima Sonko March 31, 2020 9:47 PM BST
In my job if you dont have the correct ppe you stop the job and if the ppe isnt up to standard then heads roll.

All ppe is be tested to the limit to be able to get onto an approved list.

I know in health care their will be shortages and health staff are left with no option some of the time. Not sure whether wearing nitrile gloves, protective suits and face masks is going to really protect them 100%. Health workers are just in an impossible position.
Report Darlo Bantam March 31, 2020 9:55 PM BST
Don't get me wrong, I ain't a consultant or a nurse fighting this on the frontline but this ain't no game or time to push an agenda. People away from the frontline are very scared about the lack of protective equipment that is available, I'd hate to be those really fighting this because I know for a fact that even there it's sub-standard. If you need any proof then look at the comparison of the equipment between Italy and the UK and we're miles behind yet so many of their doctors have already died. If we're lucky maybe we won't lose as many, but the sad losses have already started.

We've got student nurses now caring for patients, and in my team even office-based staff are now being asked to re-train in case they need to go and help at in-patient wards. Jeez, the NHS has even bought PPE from a fetish website because that's all the could get. Nurses are no longer able to even hold their children because of the fear of passing the virus on, and probably go to work not knowing whether they'll come home again and see their families again.

I'm under no illusion that the NHS ain't badly run and overbloated at times, and makes plenty of mistakes. But to say this is "media brainwashing" and "push an agenda", seriously just **** off.

HEY   CIDER    go and do one!!  ho ho
Report Cider March 31, 2020 10:11 PM BST
Of course it is attempted brainwashing from the media, and for the most part a socialist agenda. Bitter NHS 'worker' contacts a media outlet, does a skype from their bookcase lined home office, moaning about lack of PPE for 'colleagues'. It always seems to be 'colleagues', not the individuals themselves who are gaining public attention.

It's easy to say, and can't be disproved. A lot of these people crave social media attention I'm afraid to say.

There's absolutely no doubt there are isolated shortages in places, the NHS is a behemoth of an organisation, including GP surgeries, old folk's homes, chemists, support staff and support agencies, paramedics et al. Anyone who thinks this issue isn't being politicised is a fool. The US, largest economy in the world has more shortages than we do.

Despite reports about some hospitals feeling they do not have enough or sufficient protective equipment to help treat patients safely, Dr George does not feel this is the case at his hospital.

"My spirits are high. I feel like we've got enough protective equipment on the frontline to do what we need do and to be able to perform our job as safely as possible," he said.

"Of course, none of us want to catch the coronavirus, all of us want to remain safe and that is absolutely paramount."

the media should not be using these press conferences to try and catch the government out. they've got an almost impossible job making life and death decisions with no right or wrong answer and basically no precedent to fall back on

they should be trying to help the public be more informed not looking for a headline. some of the questions have been absolutely ludicrous

PPE doesn't really look up to the job at all ,the masks look like something my dentist would wear.

I was told also that one of the problems will be with ill fitting masks,  or masks not fitted properly to start with.

Interesting  how they work in Naples ...  keeping teams apart in different rooms  with those copping the viral load are  donning the heavy gear,  and what looked like gas masks .

Co workers in the adjacent room never entered into the  covid  'hotspot'

Probably learning from Bergamo

Maybe all of this is not an "agenda" by the so called "left", might even be fact or mostly fact as others than myself has been trying to say.

Not arguing, tis soul destroying, unnecessary and was preventable to a point as the herd immunity project only ended slightly over 2 weeks ago.
