I don’t think he is short of a bob or two. I dare say he sold off large chunks of his Virgin Empire.
I was a member at Virgin Gym and have used the airline, both are very good. The question is what Industries need supporting and how. With regard to airlines I might suggest some of them are in deep dudu. We will probably have an over supply and we can’t save them all. This is not a time to gloat. I don’t like the bearded one particularly but it is a good airline with a lot of good people. If we can help the airline e we should but we are not here to bail out the share holders. If the airline goes into receivership and is still some sort of viable concern the Country may be able to take it over for its full market value....whatever that market is or share holders may seek out another White Knight at their leisure. |

He has a few island retreats in the Caribbean to sell as well unless he rents them from airb&b.

yes, but he's very worried about damaging the economy by not offering tourist flights and shedding jobs.

Maybe the government could have 80% of the company in return for financial help if Sir Richard is unwilling. It's a well-run business.

Why should you and me, the British taxpayer bail them out with our money?
|
|
By:
I think Delta own 49% so surely their interest to make sure they dont go under.
|

By:
The government will want to avoid asset stripping.
The country will need a large fleet in operation. |

Most businesses are viable but negated by cashflow at the moment courtesy of Covid-19. Virgin Airline is on such entity; a good tie-up with Singapore Airline the premiership of airlines, I think.

Would he invest in an Airline now?
I was under the impression Airlines don’t make money. Not sure how big Branson’s stake is in Virgin right now. He is all about the brand so maybe just trying to protect the reputation of Virgin |
|
By:
Apparently Virgin group own 51% and Delta 49%
Branston had the chance to sell 31% of Virgin Airlines to Air France and KLM in December but decided he wanted Virgin Group to keep control. |
|
By:
Would be madness to bail out any airline @ present.
The desire to travel here there and everywhere will be reduced dramatically by Coronavirus. Anyone fancy a fortnight in Italy /Spain ??? |
