25th March - New Year's Day

A while back the 25th March, also known as Lady's Day, was the start of the new year.  The reason being is that it is 9 months from Christmas Day and so therefore the date of Christ's conception.  It was decided that the moment he was conceived on Earth is the moment he arrived on Earth and so should mark the start of the year.
