"It is very important for people's mental and physical wellbeing that they should be able to get out and exercise," he says, adding not everyone has a private open space. "That is why parks and open spaces are absolutely crucial." He says that - despite this - people must follow social distancing advice otherwise "there is no doubt" that the government will bring forward further measures.

Pity the government didn't listen to medical advice in the past . Experts guaranteed that there would be a pandemic in the future but there was nothing put in place to protect the country from an event such as this . Great minds should surely be proactive rather than reactive......maybe it was not seen as financially viable at the time ?

Going for a walk up a hill if you aren't near people is hardly reckless. Do you expect everyone to sit in darkened room for the next few months?
I agree standing around in a pub isn't clever though..
If people get no exercise firstly that will cause health problems directly itself, piss everyone off, and the fitter you are the better your immune system is and the better you'd be able to fight anything off! Exercise helps the immune system.
I'm off for a walk myself right now. Yea that's right, try and stop me, Blockleiter!!

Someone ask, what happens to people in the at risk group that currently work...where is their money going to come from, if they are one of those that don't get furloughed by their company but get a letter through the post, £94 a week isn't going to be any good to them and will force them to work.
None of these reporters have asked that obvious question yet

THE ONLY TRUE FIGURE IS THE DEAD , most of them will have been sick people , 1 % is bad enough if the True figure is 5 % , they need to lockdown NOW !! we would be looking at 3 million dead going forward ?

Journo asks a question on how to enforce aga8nst 5 kids having a party and he throws the question to the Dr to answer ffs it was a security question.

If you are one of the people that get a letter but are in the group that has a condition currently under control and are not a worker that is going to be furloughed by their employer then they are not covered by 80% wages but are being told to stay home only qualifying for £94.
They should have announced a financial package for these workers who receive a letter because what will happen is those at risk workers will be forced to ignore the letter and go to work.
Why didn't one of these journos ask this question??
The announcement "assumes" that these 1.5 people are already laid up at home but that is not the case..some work!!!!

18:00 Strict lockdown not wanted - but may come if needed
Vicki Young Chief Political Correspondent It was a pretty stark warning - and a question everyone wants to know. If people aren't following the advice, what will the government do? It is very clear from the prime minister that he is actively considering further measures. We have seen in other countries people are being told not to leave their houses. But Boris Johnson said he does not want to impose such restrictions. He says he is very, very concerned with people's mental and physical health if they cannot leave the house.

Recap: UK coronavirus news conference The latest UK government news conference on its coronavirus response has come to an end. Here’s what happened: PM Boris Johnson warned the government would take "further measures" to enforce social distancing advice if it is not respected He said he would think "very actively" about this over the next 24 hours He said he wanted people to continue to be able to go to parks, but people should stay 2m (6f) away from others Communities Secretary Robert Jenrick pledged the government would support 1.5m vulnerable people advised to stay at home for 12 weeks He said he hoped food deliveries to them would begin at the end of next week, and would become more "sophisticated" over time He added that councils would join up with supermarkets to ensure food deliveries are made

Huge problem Duffy given the self employed amount of workers, going from earning a wage and having so many bills to money that you cannot possibly survive on is terrible for them.
Eyeball covid 19 still shortened their lives.

No mention of flights or borders generally. Defies logic.
Playgrounds got a mention. Oh and how dare people take a stroll in the fresh air. Boris is trying to let people have some freedom but pressure is mounting.

I'm a bit more hopeful on a personal level, I just found a few medical papers (gobbledygook to me) but the general thrust from what I can see is that the immuno supressant drug I take has actually been successful in tests against various coronavirus's in the past.

In the bigger scheme of things, there are unfortunate presidents being set. After this is all over, if we're still around some people will be expecting 80% of wages if they lose their job. It's okay saying gig economy workers need help, but they've had the advantages of not having fixed hours and working days. There's not enough personal responsibility as it is.

I suffered from croup when I was a youngster, and have a weaker chest as a consequence. Not a given that I won't have complications, albeit there are many more vulnerable than me.

If we shutdown and the numbers of cases level or drop. Then what?
Were do we go from there? We can't carry for long with everything shut down.
And as soon as we resume normal life, the virus will flare up again.

From where ? If a strict lockdown is performed, everyone will either have contracted it and died, contracted it and survived, or not contracted it at all.
