Surely everyone with no health problems should carry on as normal and those with underlying health conditions should be self isolating for a certain period of time as the vast majority of cases of those dying, if not practically all? have been those with long term underlying health concerns, mostly elderly? and anyone that comes into contact with those self isolating, like care workers should take the normal precautions of face masks and hand sanitisers etc. Hardly hear any cases of people with no underlying health issues succumbing to the virus?

don't see the purpose of total lockdown, well that's actually the strange thing, thousands of kids will still go to school, those of key workers, sends a confusing message, should be all or nothing surely.

The way the world is reacting you'd think perfectly fit and health people are randomly collapsing in the street when really it's mostly elderly people towards the end of their life being tipped over the edge in the same way being hit by the Winter Flu would have done.

I'd expect this kind of mass spread panic if the Black Death was amongst us, but not when most people will not come close to dying.

Also, do young people who are not affected, needs to build up immunity to this anyhow?

Simple thing to me seems to be for nobody to have any direct contact with

Your Computer may have a Virus Grin

I agree with everything you Have said , Organized chaos Covers it ....

Infact Most healthy people over 70 will have no problems ..

Coastal Hotels resorts and Properties Could have been taken over .Not hard to lock down Seaside Towns , Clean air ,Money for the owners of such,
Move the Vulnerable there for a Couple of months while we are dealing with the Virus and get a better Idea of whats going on ,Care staff working Shifts of weeks , Voluntary , Isolated 7 days before going in ..... Same with people being sent ....Once in Situ the people stay put ,any residents of towns become unwell ,Shifted for 14 days ...

yeah sorry don't know what happened there, never done that before

Isolating perfectly healthy people who would be under orders to have no contact with those who should/would be isolating, seems bizarre, and it's counter productive no matter what financial measures you put in place because I don't think they've taken into consideration people who WILL suffer from mental health issues by being isolated for prolonged periods of time, drinking more, smoking more etc, when cabin fever sets in the NHS wont be at breaking point it'll burst.

The schoolkids thing is really confusing, they've basically ordered a partial closure, that's neither doing one thing or the other, it says, ok this is not good, but it's not bad enough to really be at home, but we're sending home many kids anyway.

People keep referencing Italy, Italy I think has the oldest population in Europe, they would have more cases and many younger people tend to live with older parents so more cases diagnosed.

I also don't blame people for Panic buying and don't understand anyone that is angry with them, when the media and government cause such panic, it's a human beings pure natural instinct/reaction to go into survival mode - though there are of course the food touts, buying up and selling toilet roll for 5 times it's value on ebay.
Report Angoose March 21, 2020 12:53 AM GMT
Isn’t it possible that the intention of isolating healthy people could be to keep them healthy?
Just a thought.

AIR PORT CHECKS AND LIMITING PUBLIC TRANSPORT , not hard , Figures in London have been Complete bollix , fook knows why ,Hard to imagine The real amount

Must be 100,000 at least as it stands Sad Just to add to problems the Half dead will probably get shifted around the country as the Hospitals

For me the most troubling aspect of all of this is that there is literally no questioning of this in the media, if I were a conspiracy theorist which I'm, not, I'd think the media want this total or near total lockdown because obviously the more people at home, the more people there are watching/listening to them, they've never had it so good. Sky gone the extra mile and now showing an array of coffins on display in an Italian Hospital at the top of the hour, mostly if not all elderly people with long term underlying health issues.

Haven't heard anyone really question if perfectly fit and healthy people should really be in isolation all over Europe, and why they cant go about normally with no contact with those in the danger bracket, just seems to be accepted, not like the media to not prod and probe. Though as said, that may be cutting the hand that feeds youShocked

Italy is the  one i'm trying to understand  ... hosing down the streets with dettol ?    and from what i understand  the parks are shut and no jogging. Also UK where Wills and Kate visited,   no patting on the backs of non infected folk at that call centre  Confused

casemoney, ickes theory is interesting many of his therories are hard to understand but he has been spot on on a good few.  i take it  what he is getting at is  the old are now  a burden ,they may have paid into the system for many many  years but now they are taking too much out and not putting back anything ,.   and with age comes costly health problems . how is this problem solved ?well the annual  flu will take out a fair few but not enough ! suddenly  a super virus arrives knocking out the unhealthy  old left right and center ! it may also take out a few younger uns but thats collateral  damage , what do the powers that be do ? act quickly  and stop the spread, or leave it a while let the the tube/public transport  and airport arrivals and departures spread it around  to get a good hold and help a few million on the way ?

Boris has revealed today that 1.5 million people who have underlying health conditions/those in vulnerable groups will be sent a letter to be told to self isolate for 12 weeks

This is what I've been confused about, why has this not been done from the beginning and why does that then not mean that people with normal health can carry on as normal considering they will not be having close contact with those self isolating ?Confused also means that those with normal health including the young, many of who still going to school as children of key workers, can also build up immunity to it should they somehow contract it.
Report Coachbuster March 22, 2020 6:57 PM GMT
isolation rate will be around 50% among those infected lol  ...they're living a pipe dream
Report InsiderTrader March 22, 2020 6:59 PM GMT
It has been done before.

Text from NHS to self-isolate for 12 weeks came early last week.

Already a week into it. Will add another week now to make it lucky 13.
Report onlooker March 22, 2020 7:32 PM GMT
Correct - InsiderTrader

The 1.5 million elderly in vulnerable categories are mostly already well aware of the situation - and hardly need a letter - as the majority have already been being very careful since first advised to start self-isolation LAST weekend.
Report mafeking March 22, 2020 8:41 PM GMT
indeed if you're in poor health or over 70 do you really need telling again and again. anyone in that category should have been in lockdown for a week at least now if they've any regard for their self preservation

The parents of a 36 Year old nurse, with no underlying illness and on a ventilator in the ICU in which she works may disagree.

It's fallacy that this virus is only finishing off the decrepit.

Doctors will be making decisions on who gets ventilated and those who will die.

if you're overweight then your insides are all inflamed, it's not a good indication for good health, increased chances of diabetes, heart problems, pressure on the rest of your organs etc

the reason why I mentioned it is because all of the reports I briefly looked through, all described her 'fit and healthy' when that's not the case.
