I noticed that as well,quite shocking the room isn't set out with distance being IMPERATIVE given what it is.

Starting to think that this is all a farce..

EVERYONE must adhere to social distancing.. Young people as well.. Don't go to pubs. Says this in a packed room next to coughing woman. Then finnishes with a massive smile on his face

A trick missed,why wasn't there distance between them,it would have shown viewers the need for it,
simple but effective.

It was a shambles.

They closed down the move away from the contain stage of the plan far too easily.
An island nation is far better placed to pursue such a strategy than a country with land borders.

I would possibly go further than distancing and say that if they really want to get their message across then these press conferences can be by videolink.

Is it essential social contact that they all need to be in that room? Of course not. If its safe for our top medicine and science people to sit in a crowded room next to a woman coughing then its surely safe for me to go to the pub.

I cant believe the scientist sat there and said this wont work if we dont all do it.

most of these academics really are a thick as sh1t outside of their chosen special field in life ,they almost  autistic like qualities   ...most  seriously wouldn't know how to change a fooken light bulb  .

I give them some rope if they are overcautious. Clearly in the liberty vs lives balance, they are going to lean towards lives - if the UK loses more lives than other countries, it looks bad on them. But i think boris knows that so im ok with all that.

But there is a difference between knowledge and wisdom. If they know that social distancing is paramount then they would be the first people practicing it and showing how easy it is. Being apparently unaware of the insanity of that press conference makes it look like they read something without understanding it though.

I am surprised there hasn't been another comment,i know you would have to have seen it to believe it but it was just two and a half weeks ago.
