Avoiding pubs etc carte blanche is stupid. Firstly get one of these FPP3 rated (a must against viruses) https://www.wickes.co.uk/Elipse-FPP3-Safety-Respirator/p/209886 and you are safe. Just drink through a straw if there are too many people. Most residential area pubs are never full so plenty of room for everyone, especially during the week, plus plenty of room outdoors, to keep your distance from others.

Basically its all about using your common sense, but the government thinks we all are stupid. The only reason why this is happening is because the government didn't shut down the airport and stopped people coming in. If they did that over a month ago then we would be protected by the sea.

Finally what is so special about stocking up on toilet paper. FFS stop being retarded. Tinned soup, noodles, rice, freezer full of meat and vegs is all you need. And a cheap bottle of vodka, not for drinking (can't stand the stuff) but a teaspoon in your hand and rub your hand in vodka and you will be ok. Cheaper than hand sanitisers.

Pecker.. theres no easy answer...he should say 'all people under 70 with no underlying issue need to carry on as normal, get the virus and hopefully come through the other side...all others need to hanker down...best of luck but a lot of you will die.'...but there's no way you can sell that to the general public at the moment...I  just reckon eventually theres gonna be no alternative.

Spot on. However banning larfe gatherings, shutting schools, get people to work at homeclosing pubs, restaurants, gyms, etc would give a gradual increase in infection giving the NHS more chance of dealing with it.

he should say 'all people under 70 with no underlying issue

That could still include a lot of people with undiagnosed underlying issues. Like S2 diabetics, people with clogged arteries but displaying no symptoms.
Kidney problems too.
People live with some conditions for years without knowing they have a problem.

During 2008-12, lung diseases were responsible for 20% of all deaths in the UK each year. In 2012, there were 114,225 deaths from lung diseases compared to 158,383 from cardiovascular diseases. However, over the 5-year period 2008–12, the proportion of deaths from cardiovascular diseases declined, whereas the proportion due to lung diseases remained constant.

In 2012, of the 28,952 deaths from pneumonia:

58 were among those aged 0–14 years of age;
1,374 were among those aged 15–64; and
27,520 were among those aged 65 and above.

- looks like this virus is following a clear pattern, except for the children (thankfully).
