As being an EU member state is doing so much better for countries like Italy, France ans Spain? Give us a moment to ponder that one.

No, we're not.

Another negative side effect of the social media era. Some people now deem themselves to be an authority on subjects they've read a few tweets about, and looked at a few pictures.
like you?

Italy’s healthcare system is one of the best in the world. Either they’re handling this virus all wrong or their troubles will soon be ours.
Almost certainly.

Nope, my view is to follow the official advice. Not change ours due to the actions of other virtue signalling individuals, including country leaders.

wolf, I am insulted by the suggestion that anyone over 75 needs a stick! Many of those over 75 are fitter than me but I can still walk 2 miles a day without any difficulty and my wife (who still plays competitive tennis at 73) and I still run a small business without any staff although that will grind to a halt as well. The real villains spreading this are the media. Reporters and cameramen standing like crows outside every public building, hospital and even in St Peters Square in Rome. ALL BBC and other reporters should be recalled and put into isolation immediately.
Fair enough on the stick comment
Certainly agree regarding the media, sky news showing reporters in locked down areas- how were they even allowed in there?

How do we know which countries leaders are correct though? Why should the UK, by some miracle, have less folks test positive/less deaths than others similar?

We don't but we don't know the other strategies in similar countries are better either. I'm confident the scientific and medical advice that is leading to the decision making isn't made up, it's informed judgement. I'm also confident there are facts that are not in the public domain, and we're only responsible for ourselves. There's no law against self isolating or not going to a public event for example, it's a free country and people are free to take any action they feel appropriate (within the law).

Yes, and to suggest that we in the UK will be better off than everyone else is nuts.
