I think I must be a pro at this, and wish I had never discovered what I have lost!
I mentioned before about a light fitting, that I've moved around with since the seventies, and much though I liked looking at it, I was unlikely to use it again, so had it up for sale for £150.00 and eventually let it go for £65.00, only to discover, just weeks later that MRP was over £600.00!!
Now a watch, that I bought from someone who came to the house in '72 (before I knew anything about direct sales) and I paid £27.00 (three payments of £9.00) and I subsequently wore it until the early '80s.
Reminiscing with my son about it, and found it, and with one for sale at $3,200.00!
no as bad as the fella that inned a pc that had loads of bit coins stored
Surely he must have thought that it seemed heavier than he remembered, or wondered what was the rattling that he could hear!

a good few years back i bought a carved wooden paddle type thing from a car boot for £40 it looked well made and i took a punt on it. took it to a local antique auction and the "expert" had a quick look at it and said its worth about £50, fair enough i thought and said i will keep it rather than let it go for that . to me it looked well made and a quality item so decided to take it to one of the bigger auction houses in london , a guy had a look at it and explained to me that he was not an expert in this kind of thing but said it was old and quality and had in fact been hand carved and of polynesian islands origin and around 150 years old in his opinion. he advised me to put it in an online auction which i did .after about an hour of being on i got a message from someone with an offer of £80 for it which i declined ,he sent me another message a few mins later with an offer of £500 ,i told him i would let the auction run anyway on the last day of the auction it was up to around £400 iirc in the last hour saw a steady rise of bids untill it sold £2,750...............always get a second opinion .
