Nominated three times for best actor by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences — for Champion (1949), The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) and Lust for Life (1956) — Douglas was the recipient of an honorary Oscar in 1996.

Arguably the top male star of the post-World War II era, he acted in more than 80 movies before retiring from films in 2004.

A fine Actor

One of his lesser known films towards the end of his career which I liked was 'Greedy'. I did like that and the final scene reminded me of a play which I was told about once.

Even on this day the BBC drop a few hints about Kirk Douglas and the metoo movement..

First I've heard about it... BBC just can't stop themselves

One of the very few Actors who really deserves to be called a Legend, from his earliest western roles to his last was a great actor and a very distinctive looking man, RIP after a great innings.

I bet he was worth a bob or two.

I wonder how much money he's left?

Apparently started with brussel sprout, very humble beginnings, very poor start ("My father, who had been a horse trader in Russia, got himself a horse and a small wagon, and became a ragman, buying old rags, pieces of metal, and junk for pennies, nickels, and dimes.... Even on Eagle Street, in the poorest section of town, where all the families were struggling, the ragman was on the lowest rung on the ladder". And I was the ragman's son.)although back then nobody had anything. Was listening to radio and heard them saying a quote from a film  director (can't rem exactly who) "his son Michael would be the first to say he was a very difficult man to work with.... and I would be the second"    lol gave that 8/10.Also on another station I heard someone talking about him having a stroke his nineties and quickly correcting to in his nineties.A fine actor and 103 a great innings.
