He made enough from them already (already took a pay cut this year I believe), and is getting plenty elsewhere. No problem him jumping on the bandwagon now, no matter how right he is. Interesting we haven't consistently heard these views from him.

Not like John Humphrys who now writes for the Daily Mail.
He towed the BBC line for decades, and waited until he hadn't got a job with them before he started his new career slagging them off.
Refreshingly honest coming from a BBC employee. Not like John Humphrys who now writes for the Daily Mail.He towed the BBC line for decades, and waited until he hadn't got a job with them before he started his new career slagging them off.
there must be a ulterior motive him coming out with this, probably going over to BT sport "full time" for even more than the near 2 million salary he picks up from the BBC.
what does he actually do for the big bucks, present a out dated football show for a hour.
perhaps they have threatened him with covering the womens game.

Would easily make it on to the list of the most overpaid in the history of television.
If the BBC really wants to save money they should start by giving him the boot and take the likes of Graham Norton with him.

I'd imagine for every Gary Lineker there are a dozen mid ranking executives on £100k + salaries.
Seems the news department has taken a good kicking in the last few days.
Even heard a BBC top exec saying the 450 jobs lost should not make a lot of difference!!!

The long-serving regular on Match Of The Day is in talks with the Corporation over a new contract.
The former Liverpool defender, has come under fire for his vast wage of around £1.5million a year – all funded by the licence fee payer.
His contract is up at the end of this season and BBC insiders say he will take a “considerable” reduction under the terms of his new deal.
It is understood other Match Of The Day stalwarts Gary Lineker and Mark Lawrenson will also be asked to take cuts when their deals end.
Hansen, 56, who won 26 Scotland caps and three European Cups with Liverpool, started broadcasting after he retired in 1991.
He has been on Match Of The Day since 1992 but landed himself in controversy in December when calling black players “coloured”.

A BBC spokeswoman said: “We never discuss talent pay or talent negotiation.”
But an insider said: “Alan is no different from other stars. Graham Norton and Bruce Forsyth, who have had to stomach big salary cuts. Alan didn’t complain and we expect him to sign up shortly.”
The BBC has been under pressure to slash the vast sums it pays to “talent” and its top executives.
Director general Mark Thompson is paid £779,000 a year while Norton and Lineker receive about £2million a year. Weakest Link presenter Anne Robinson and Newsnight host Jeremy Paxman each get £1million.
The BBC’s accounts for last year showed it paid £22million to 19 stars earning more than £500,000.
