I do not discuss my past
But yes I was a soldier once, N. Ireland. A problem we helped solve. Sadly this has not happened in the Middle East, the problem just goes on and on. It is because we do need solutions other than war as well, or the killing will just continue. I also see the cause of ALL the trouble in the Middle East, but people can work that one out themselves. |

The problem over Iran is the fact they have Nuclear Power Stations, for civil use.
We are worried they use they may enrich the Uranium that is produced, to produce Nuclear Weapons. The West were paying Iran not to do this, but Trump has decided to stop this. I am not sure this is his best decision, myself |

Go into a soverign country, airstrike it and take out one of their big commanders, and then demand talks and restraint That`s not correct; they have been invited in by the sovereign nation, and they took out a prime mover in his attempted annexation of the sovereign country by his masters, as part of a plan to reach both The Med, and Israel, which would then be at ever more risk. SontaranStratagem 03 Jan 20 23:16 Bark orders, "behave yourselves", the the fack do they think they are? When dealing with evil trying to kill you, I`d think telling them to behave themselves (or else!), is quite reasonable; you don`t? UBLE/REGY 04 Jan 20 00:10 The problem over Iran is the fact they have Nuclear Power Stations, for civil use We are worried they use they may enrich the Uranium that is produced, to produce Nuclear Weapons. Also incorrect. obama gave them $1.5 BILLION in return for only a 10 year moratorium, after which they were free to nuke up. |

And no, detraveller, as an old hippy pacifist, I have never been a soldier!

Two posts back, my `$1.5 BILLION` should, of course, be `$150 BILLION!!!`

I think the world would've been a lot better place -and a lot less American and other Western forces casualties - if Israel had fought it's own battles instead of getting the US to do the fighting. You'd think with tens of billions of dollars the US taxpayer has handed over the last three decades to support Israel's military that they were well equipped to fight their own battles. Why do it yourself when you can get Americans to do it for you?

There are certainly no righteous on either side, you could never trust Iran to get its house in order but on the other you got an impeachable president used car salesman who only keeps his job because there are enough cronies to support him (not innocence) and Netanyahu who avoids serious allegations by a technicality while electioning, both feasibly could end up in jail after office.
Then there’s the weasely way Israel gets preferential treatment, not least the nuclear issue. |
|
By:
Americans can vote Trump out any time they like , Netanyahu can be voted out any time the Israelis like , Israel is a free and democratic country Iran and all other Muslim countries should follow they’d good example and the world would be a better place , not perfect , but much better .

^ another hater of democracy and the great freedoms we enjoy in Britain and America and Israel .
dusgraceful really , no one likes to be thankful |
|
By:
lfc, its a part of democracy to be able to have those opinions. You are contradicting yourself because yesterday you were complaining about the people of Iran not being able to express themselves when you yourself start calling people haters based on their opinions. Grow up.
|
|
By:
You also contradict yourself when you ask some countries to settle their matters themselves yet when the americans or the brits are about to invade a country, you justify it by talking about the necessity to help their people.
I was avoiding you for two days but had to put it out. I know im wrong and youre right but I hope you won't mind me expressing myself ![]() |
|
By:
lfc constantly contradicting himself? I am shocked, shocked I say!
|
|
By:
detraveller you’re confused again , democracy is not about differing opinions , democracy is about sharing the same basic fundamental opinions . That does not mean that everyone is the same of course not , but they must share the same basic fundamental belief in democracy
Also of course sometimes it is good if we can help people who are oppressed and living under a murderous dictatorship , such as Nazi gernany for example so I’m not sure what you are whittering on about there . |
|
By:
Totally agree with you lfc.

Unfortunately democracy is an illusion, a veneer of respectability over a substrate of lies and corruption.
Sure it looks better than theocracy but that’s not much of a comparison. It’s still chock full of criminals, just as I’ve always said; they work harder to cover themselves. |
|
By:
I like living in the U.K.

By:
Don’t trust people like dustybin who claim democracy is an illusion
You see there is N Korea , and there is the U.K. don’t confuse one with the other . |

Unfortunately democracy is an illusion, a veneer of respectability over a substrate of lies and corruption. Sure it looks better than theocracy but that’s not much of a comparison. .......................................... It really is a choice between one or the other, dusty. Which would you prefer? |
|
By:
Where is the choice?
We don’t get a choice on whether to have democracy or anything else It’s Hobson’s choice. We get to chose the colour of our own cells, that is all. |
|
By:
‘The people’ shape nothing, no laws or rules. They don’t get a say in the judiciary or parliament and get a very fine line of options within the political system, all of which is controlled by barons and businessmen of one type or another.

By:
Ahhh everyone is oppressing me in Britain , life is so not fair !
![]() |
|
By:
William Rees Mogg referred to it as ‘violence’ the part within each human epoch that determines its path
I prefer ‘tyranny’. It was tyranny of the church that controlled the minds, tyranny of the monarchy that wrestled power away, tyranny of the civil war that shaped what we now call politics (had they known would the Roundheads have bothered?) and now tyranny of commerce where the corporation has seeded power, controls the foods controls the information and work. |
|
By:
Lfc you are just a sock puppet, no concern of mine.
|
|
By:
And of course your opinion is of no concern of mine dustybin
Isn’t that lovely , in Britain we can be free from people like yourself and their overwhelming will That’s real freedom , that’s why I like living in the U.K. |
|
By:
Keep whining about the church , or Parliament , or business whatever
You know in Britain you don’t have to go to church , or vote, or even work , isn’t that lovely ? Keep whining , it’s like sweet music |
