Sacked vegan brings landmark discrimination case

Mr Casamitjana describes himself as an "ethical" vegan and campaigns to get his message to others.
His beliefs affect much of his everyday life. He will, for instance, walk rather than take a bus to avoid accidental crashes with insects or birds.

Sacked by the League against Cruel Sports. Oh, the irony!  May I be allowed a small chuckle?
Report Dr Crippen January 2, 2020 2:19 PM GMT
''he was sacked by the League Against Cruel Sports after disclosing it invested pension funds in firms involved in animal testing.''

Please give generously, rest assured your money will be put to good use.
That's if there's any money left after we've drawn our wages and funded our pensions suckers.

Very few vegans consider veganism a religion in my view. I’m a vegan simply because of an abhorrence to cruelty.
Report Foinavon January 2, 2020 3:02 PM GMT
We Pastafarians are offended. Ours is the one true religion, the others are pagan cults.

It’s beginning to look as though plants can think and feel .

Something to think about

Perhaps meat eaters should eat a vegan . lol

Many plants produce lectins, these can cause sever reactions in some and lesser reactions in the majority.
This is their built in survival mechanism.
Report Dr Crippen January 2, 2020 3:39 PM GMT
Eating red meat can give us cancer.
Eating saturated fat can give us heart disease and other chronic ailments, animal products and fish are loaded with saturated fat.

These are the animals built in survival mechanisms.
Report lfc1971 January 2, 2020 3:49 PM GMT
I imagine meat eating will drastically reduce in the coming years , like smoking , as people become more aware of the risks
Report Dr Crippen January 2, 2020 4:23 PM GMT
The animal food industry will fight tooth and nail to convince us that eating their products does us no harm, but they're fighting a losing battle with sales of meat on the decrease.
Report moisok January 2, 2020 4:28 PM GMT
Ah Dr   they forgot about me!!  I am fighting back - two sirloins, shallots, black pepper with a little cream - not too well done I don't mind some blood   slurp

I do admit to eating some potatoes two - only small (salad type - what ever that means)
Report Dr Crippen January 2, 2020 4:33 PM GMT
Easy on the spuds moisok, somebody has had to come all the way from Europe to dig that up for you to eat in waste.
Report moisok January 2, 2020 4:40 PM GMT
you are rite of cause - you have put me in my plaice -  my waste is of concern to me on this diet  ho ho

What next? Vegetarianism a religion too? That's the problem associated with an inactive mind - it strays off at a tangent.
Report Foinavon January 2, 2020 5:18 PM GMT
Lay off the spuds, good advice. A little bit of cream and black pepper on the fromage blanc doesn't go amiss.

Of course, that's not meant to be taken literally, it refers to any manufacturers of dairy products.
Report moisok January 2, 2020 7:28 PM GMT

Flash-fried half a dozen pigeon breasts for dinner tonight, in a fry-up with potato, apple and shallot in butter.

Vegan meat imo - after all, there'd be little left for our vegan friends to eat if we didn't shoot woodpigeons.
