Just seen the video.

The woman was very rude, looked like she hurt his wrist or shoulder as she pulled him backwards. He might be the pope but he’s still an elderly man and shouldn’t be pulled about like that. She deserved the slap on the wrist IMO.

He was wrong to act in anger.Not as serene as he likes to pretend.

I agree with Torq, anyone doing that to an old man deserves a slap.

Just to be clear for those who haven’t seen the clip - The Pope slapped the woman’s hand, not her face. She didn’t appear to notice the slap either.

He was within his rights to slap her hand, I'd have shouted for her to get the fack off

But at the same time they stand there for hours in the cold, only to be walked straight past and ignored, have to see both sides of the argument sometimes

If you’re into that sort of worship thing then you stand there for hours simply to see the pope, that should be reward enough. If he shakes your hand that’s just a bonus. Nobody has the right to touch him uninvited, let alone grab his hand and yank him backwards.

The woman is lucky the guards were not more forceful than the pope’s gentle hand slap.

When we were at school we were taught that the Pope was infallable and talked directly to God. People believed it and also believed that you could not read literature which was on the 'index'. No wonder churchs are empty now that people realise what a hoax it all is.

York Minster - my son lived about 100yds from it - it's of historical interest but they now charge either £5 or £10 to visit.

I'd be a "lapsed" Catholic, however some of the comments aren't justified, he goes around and goes out of his way to shake little childrens hands,fair play to him,then a way too over enthusastic woman wanted to go away with his arm, bound to be a bit odd.
