PATRA offers training schemes to men and women from ethnic minority groups. The training place consists of a work placement of 5 days a week, as well as having the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification. Trainees receive a tax free monthly allowance, paid directly into their bank account.
This positive action training is supported by Nottingham City Council.

Positive Discrimination is counterproductive without the necessary talent or coaching. However, I do agree if a post eg Head of Disability must be a disabled person preferably a sufferer who faces the same challenges to fully understand and appreciate what appropriate measures to implement to make a difference.

1) If the discrimination is considered to advance a 'noble cause'
2) If the action you take in pursuit of the 'noble cause' is proportionate
I think in recent years the most notable example of positive discrimination/affirmative action would be all female shortlists for selecting an MP.

I lived in London for 50 years and hardly saw any back then. A relative who was in the MET told me they had tried to recruit ethnics over the years but stopped wasting money with costly 'drives' as they realised they won't join because if they do they are immediately ostracized by their own community.
