I would like to see him on the other side of the fence in the same bully boy style he employs.
See how clever he is then. He tries to make everyone look totally stupid. One trick pony imho We will never vote for anyone ever again if he had his way. |
By:
The " one trick " being asking his guests to actually answer a question with a straight forward answer, yes I suspect he's guilty of that one.
By:
To borrow a phrase from my chum flusher..he is a tory vaginal aperture.

Lol the BBC are a disgrace for running the other interviews without getting confirmation from Boris for his
By:
he lost it big style once with owen jones, when jones retorted about a spectator front page when neil was editor, neil wouldn't discuss it,got angry give the I ask the questions line

Neil is at his most tenacious when interviewees refuse to answer basic questions and compound this by changing the subject as if this will somehow fool Neil and the viewers.
I think what makes some people uncomfortable is that he can overstep the mark and become irritatingly smug, even when he occupies the high ground when the interviewee is running for cover. Kay Burley is guilty of this many times over. It's worse in her case as she is really just a bog standard TV interviewer. At least Neil has some in depth senior professional media experience and gravitas. Very difficult to compare the different periods of course, but can you imagine Richard Dimbleby being smug like that? Not in my opinion. Neither were his sons. |
By:
Andrew Neil suffers no fools. Our greatest political interviewer? In my opinion anybody else is a distant second.
By:
Doesnt he sniff rupert still though
By:
Robin Day was much better than Andrew Neil; Jeremy Paxman is also very good too.

all of them dyed in the wool spiv fans just like yourself 231 or 123 or whatever you call yourself

By:
Just watched it.
Fair play to Gardiner, he held up very well and won by ko. |
By:
Neil is a first class **** imo...Jeremy would never bow down that fackin idiot.

Neil and Robin Day should never be mentioned in the same breath.

So, Andrew Neil destroys Corbyn with consummate ease yet struggles to draw level with a plumber from Luton.
The two bob s c a b Jeremy should take note, this is what a true patriot standing up for the working class looks like… www.youtube.com/watch?v=opy5fXrTGEA Absolutely heartbreaking. |

First of all people aren’t made to look stupid, stupidity is exposed.
JC didn’t come across as being the sharpest of tools, constantly trotting out his line rather than answering the questions. I think it would be fair to call JC defensive. One has to ask why? Of course he is hardly unique there. Politicians of all hues do just that and all that does is turn people off. As for AN being a bully boy, perhaps yes, but why not? Did we want to see Graham Norton interviewing him? I do hope AN gets Bozo on. Fair is fair. |
By:
I doubt the Tory Apparatchicks will let Johnson within a million miles of Neil
A few hours of negative publicity on rolling news before it's replaced with the next Prince Andrew revelation and some mock outrage on twatter an facef-uk from SJW's who would never vote for him anyway. The fact democracy is once again suffering one of its thousand cuts on its way to its death is of no apparent concern |
By:
is it true andrew utterly destroyed jezza?
Granty, it was a massacre, a cringefest which Corbyn's own people described as "truly horrific" and pathetically encouraged their Twittermob to try and drown out on social media. It wasn't so much as a "car-crash", more a "motorway pile-up". It can be enjoyed here. . https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000bqpt/the-andrew-neil-interviews-election-2019-jeremy-corbyn |

The truth is that it wasnt as bad as some people seem to want it to appear , neil is a very aggressive interviewer hopefully Bullingdon the coward will put to the test as well thats if he doesnt cowardly back out once again
By:
It would be a disgrace if BJ doesn’t consent to an AN interview.
By:
Anx, it was pretty bad.
And yes if BJ doesn’t consent it does mark him as a coward. |

It was Michael Jackson Bad.

He just wiped the floor with Barry (QT) Gardiner
Yes I watched that. Neil systematically took apart every accusation that Gardener made, and showed that every fact he presented was incorrect. Which isn't too difficult when Labour's whole case about selling the NHS is built on a pack of lies. What is disturbing is that Labour thought they could get away with lying so blatantly. In contrast, I heard Gardiner on the Radio 4 Today programme this morning, where he was allowed to present the same case that Neil had destroyed last night, with just token opposition from the Radio 4 presenter. But the Radio 4 Today programme has always had a reputation for supporting Labour. |
By:
Radio 4 is quite sickening most of the day, though world at 1 is preferable to the TV news imo.

what you didn't say was 2 mins later neil used the same arguments made by gardener to destroy buckland saying the papers proved that the nhs was/would be on the table in trade talks easy game when you can use same papers to fight 2 arguments and claim victory in both neil,s final argument to buckland was that if nhs, wasnt on table there,d be no fta with usa, rather proving gardeners point that would mean Brexit with no fta with either eu or usa everyone missing the real nuggets in the papers what usa want is get their low agri reg food into uk access to nhs no talk of climate change prefer uk to have no deal with EU or very lose alignment with EU IF WE want the bottom 2 we,re not going to get a fta with eu in 11 months, so the usa no we,ll be desperate to sign a deal with them so points 1 and 2 will be on table or we walk away with no fta with either EU or USA, because Johnson, buckland, and hancock 30 mins ago said if nhs is on table we,ll walk away lies, lies, lies |

To borrow a phrase from my chum flusher..he is a tory vaginal aperture. Did you think the same when AN was ripping the proverbial out of Buckland? Both Gardner & Buckland floundered. |
By:
Would we prefer these ‘press conferences’ were the leaders are surrounded by their nodding dogs?
Is anyone conned by the apparatchik reactions? |
By:
if your the bbc how do you judge bias ,stay neutral in area,s like Brexit,indyreff2 their binary options, think its agred just about a majority of scots now wantto go oit alone, should neil,s questions reflect that opinion
By:
Reflect?
What exactly do you mean? Do you mean the questions should be sympathetic? ALL politicians need to be challenged. |
By:
There can debate long and hard at the BBC as long as they stick to the guidelines-waste of time.
By:
Andrew Neil put the Labour accusations to Buckland, and he answered them in the same way as Neil had just defeated Gardiner.
Which was that the Labour case was based on speculation, conjecture, and inaccurate figures. The only one getting destroyed was Gardiner with his pack of Labour lies. |

Granty - I've had an absolute BRAINWAVE which will see Lammy and Abbott diverted to Scotland, to rule you directly. I know you'll approve.
See the Politics Forum re: Labour's Change of Strategy thread. |
By:
Lammy and Ms Abbott have been conspicuous by their absence; their big gob not appreciated in this election perhaps. What a shame they've been gagged or not?
By:
Only right that Boris is also interviewed by him. Don't know why he would shy away anyway. Couldn't be any worse imo.
By:
Tory HQ trying to decide which will be worse: Boris getting savaged by Neil or ducking the interview so looking weak
By:
The latter for sure.
