I have never been impressed by film stars/singers etc, but Sam Cooke, what a fantistic talent
I think I have every relased recorging of his including when he was in the Soul Stirrers. I was fortunite to visit (on a road trip) to Nashville,  Memphis, Jackson, and New Orleons this year, I found even the 'Country fans' recognse his brilliant talent.

A change is gonna come was written by him hoping it would rival the Dylan 'anthem' blowing in the wind. And promote the Cival Rights campaign. A brilliant song with an unforgetable piano intro

Cheers digdeep,Love
Howlin Wolfs version was brilliant, I visited  Sam Phillips Sun studio, and he ranked Howlin above his other signed acts, Elvis, Johnny cash, Roy O, Gerry Lewis and carl perkins.

He sold Elvis to RCA for 35 thousang dollars mainly to pay off his debths, with the left over money he invested in a little known but ambitious up and coming hotel company called the Holiday Inn. The rest of course is history.

I have sung many/most of his songs as a tribute, I had Classical Voice Training in 1970 but lacked the belief in my ability to do it professionlly. I had just married and taken on a mortgage, unlike the aholes who pop up on our screens who think they are great while failing to carry a tune in a bucket. I could beat them all without even truing.
