Typical lfc. Praising america for pulling out their troops while criticizing Ireland for not sending troops to a war that the English were fighting for them anyways.

You can't call trident a defense system when it doesn't work against migrants on dinghies
|

By:
By the way, no one has actually bothered to read the details(as always) of this American pullout.
They haven't even pulled out. They've vacated a base and moved back to another base, freeing the region for Turkey as was agreed with Trump. A grand total of 50 soldiers it was. I was hoping someone would have pointed that out by now. |
|
By:
DrC mentioned the numbers involved.
I thought they had taken some out of Turkey altogether though. |

The Trident money will be spent over a number of years and helps fulfil our financial commitment to NATO.

Trump was elected on a manifesto to bring American troops back home .
America is a country just like any other and they are heartily sick of the burden of having I can’t blame them , and of course the usual suspects who cry about America’s involvement are now crying when they go back home Well too bad , you are going to have to learn a bitter lesson And pipe down |
|
By:
America woukd like to help , but unfortunately times up
|
|
By:
It makes me smile to see these usual suspects wasting their lives away seething about and knocking the Don day in and day out. They'll be on their death beds, drawing their final breaths on this mortal coil and ask themselves, "Where did my life go?" Bitterness and anger rots the soul. They would be wise to remember and act upon that fact.

By:
Sorry I hadn't seen DrC's post.
@trilby, from what I have read there are only about 1000 american soldiers in Syria. |
|
By:
Thank you, detraveller. I heard something on the radio earlier about them getting sent to Saudi. Only heard a snippet, so maybe crossed my wires. Sure it'll be confirmed soon enough. Tschüss and good luck with any bets you may have today.
|
|
By:
It is not as simple as saying a thousand troops are present in Syria. And similarly the move about moving 50 of them isn't that significant. The US could get them back in place in a matter of minutes, though of course it will be tougher to get the same control back immediately.
Then there is neighboring Iraq where I would guess the americans are still present in decent numbers? The planes that do the bombarding surely fly from Iraq and don't really need any ground control in Syria. Also in a place like Syria where there's no air force against them, they probably just use drones and for that they don't need to be present there. I was reading that american drones are watching from the sky as turkish air force whizzes past them for bombardment. But I didn't really get what the author was trying to say. Then there are the private contractors. A quarter of american strength on the ground in the middle east are private companies offering their services/men. Moving these private troops around doesn't really make news and im guessing they would also not need congress approval for sending more of these like they do for american troops. In short, what Trump did was basically insignificant. Like I mentioned before, it was just a politicial deal with Erdogan. |
|
By:
"In short, what Trump did was basically insignificant." detraveller I have to take issue with you, the nightmare is just unfolding. We have seen nothing yet. BTW sending (if it happens) 50 US troops to Saudi is significant, it's called a 'human shield'.
|
|
By:
Middle East will stay a nightmare for some time. I am not sure what exactly is unfolding if 50 troops change their base. Its already a shethole with everyone trying to bomb the region themselves and not liking it when someone else does.
I don't know much about the troops in Saudi Arabia but moving 50 troops there could easily be a legal move(for the legality of a future war). If America does want to bomb some place there in the future they don't really need an excuse, but its always better to have one. |
|
By:
We do know that they moved 50 troops but we dont know if they sent in 100 private troops. And that's the problem with this war business in the middle east.
|
|
By:
Too complicated no one can be bothered with that nonsense anymore
Americans have their own lives to lead and are quite right to come home |
|
By:
Having been to these countries and many more in the middle east I have found them to be friendly nice people. Not sure about the politicos though. So why the problems? It might have something to do with one lot are of a sunny disposition and the other lot are sh!te.
You can see the devil in the detail of following an instruction manual. |

Anyone who can't see the ramifications of this stupidity is brainless......cue Lfc.

America leave the Kurds in deep poo but since May,US middle east forces were increased by 14,000 the War Department said.
"Waging endless wars in multiple theaters, the statement falsely claimed the US "does not seek conflict with Iran"-while all out Trump regime economic terrorism seeks to crush its economy and starve its people into submission,Nuremberg level high crime unexplained. Iran is the regions leading proponent of peace and stability, seeking cooperative relations with other countries, confrontation with none". |

Iran is an evil regime involved in terrorism , murder and torture
Including the total repression of its own citizens |
