Thorntons are nothing special.  It's all marketing, as are most 'luxury' items.
Report lybertyne September 29, 2019 5:55 PM BST
My business is in the 'luxury' sector and 2/3rds of the manufacturing cost goes on what I call 'frillies' - the packaging which ultimately is unnecessary but gives the illusion of holding something special.  People don't just buy products; they buy the experience of having the product.

You just wait till princess greta catches up with a wastrel like you!  She will get very angry and you will get the 'look'Angry

Brands represent customers’ perceptions and feelings about a product and its performance – everything that the product or service means to customers.

Lily O'Brien's chocolates far better.

Thorntons chocolates used to be a luxury item, but no longer since allowed to be sold in supermarkets;e Lindt is so much better in every aspect bar the price (unless on offer) - a must have chocolates at x'mas.

Only for unconscious consumers, which is probably 99% of the UK.

Thornton's was known for the toffee, which is still ok I believe, used to like the Brazil myself

put in a handmade artisan belgum chocolate box with a pink bow on,and a £25 price tag your mrs will be saying how gorgeous they are, LaughLaugh, the palette has changed that much in 35 years regards chocolates to go from queing round the block best they,ve ever eaten to uneatable
Report Baphornet September 30, 2019 6:11 PM BST
highland toffee does that; better than spending loads at the local dentista for an extraction

Lindt's luxury, dessert and chocolatier collection are a must for chocolate lovers - they are exquisite.

On the other hand, anyone had Russian dark chocolates? They were treasured in Russia in the last couple of decades. Trust me you ain't miss anything. They were revolting; tasted bitter (not in a chocalatey way) and rancid. Horrible stuff. One to avoid if offered. But, with more freedom of movement I don't think Russians today will miss them either.
