My choice has very bitter memories for me, my mate owned a bar in Spain when I lived there and he drank himself to death out of boredom when his wife left him and he would play that song on the jukebox laughing at himself. He died my age,53.Cry

#5 Tracy Chapman - Fast Car

You see my old man's got a problem
He lives with the bottle that's the way it is

His body's too young to look like his

I'm going to disqualify Tracy despite it being a wonderful song.
It has to be ostensibly about the demon drink.
Fine Young Cannibals is borderline.

Of course Chapman's song is about the demon drink, her mother went off and left him, so she's been left to look after him. She wants to get away from it all, get a nice job, live in a suburb.

Drummer Doug Clifford claimed the band played a show in Lodi in their early days. Said Clifford: "There were nine people in there, they were all locals, they were all drunk and all they did all night was tell us to turn it down."

Now, if that doesn't earn full kudos for being bad! Angry
