Charlie - you start here with the campaign. How can we set an example to the world if we keep building??

The M25 used to be 3 lanes. It's now 4. Soon it will be 5 in places as the hard shoulder will be used. There's no end in sight.

This country was full years ago. You can't have a UK with 70m=+ people and be eco friendly.

Of course if the elite didn't order the burning down of the Amazon Forest or didn't put everything in plastic, the kids have a much nicer place to live.If the elite didn't spray the world with chemicals everyday and didn't install 5G the kids health might just be like it should.Angry

HAHAH dumbest answer yet, it's even worse in most other places, major cities sprawling over the green areas destroying all in sight in every country in the world.

That may well be right. So it's not a UK (solely) issue so your point is?

That's not what I meant as you know. You're concentrating on the UK and what's happening here. That is a minor issue compared to the rest of the world.

Ok, one more time...

'rest of the world'? 71% is water. Australia mostly uninhabited. As is Africa (no industrial revolution either).

Vast areas of Canada, China, Russia and Mongolia are wild.

I suggest if your passionate about the environment you should care first for the UK and particularly England. England is one of the most densely populated countries on Earth.

Injera I'm not sure if you're deliberately being obtuse or not. It's climate change we're on about. It's fck all to do with 71% water, and whether Africa or Australia is inhabited and wherever in the world is wild. There a numerous factors affecting the climate which you seem to totally ignore.

There have been at least 5 Ice Ages in the billions of years this planet has existed. During the last one everywhere north of a line between the Bristol Channel and the Thames Estuary was under ice.

Yet a few decades of "expert" data tells us that the climate will change inexorably due to mankind!

Yes we will eventually destroy the world as we know it, but Planet Earth will carry on. We are destroying our world - the mammoth in the room is over-population which no politician will acknowledge of course.
By:
Charlie
When: 20 Sep 19 19:11
Yep there's been lots of ice-ages. But there's never been so many people doing damage to the planet.

By:

When: 20 Sep 19 19:18
No,no, no, not overpopulation.
By:

There is no, logical, reason why the earth's population couldn't go up to, say a 100 billion or more.

But if we continue to carry on the way we've gone for a good few years then there will be major problems to come. That's not to blame people in the way we did things in the past but if we don't learn then most people will be kaput.

Good post crystal

---

The last time they did a similar thing there was the same sort of response from the climate change deniers on here.
The fact that the kids can see what's happening but the tw@ts on here can't is quite revealing.

1. They only see what the teachers and media want them to see. ie they're scaremongering to small children. Despicable behaviour.

2. 90%+ of them are 'protesting' because it gets them out of the dullness of the classroom to have a bit of fun instead.

Let's teach kids in a responsible way about environmental issues, not scare them half to death.

Regarding point 1. I believe the government want to introduce an otherwise unpalatable law, that's why they're fostering these kind of protests. We shall see in due course.

Really - you think kids are stupid. They can see for themselves what's going on ie; chronic air polution, poison waterways, plastic waste clogging up the oceans, extreme weather events over and above the norm.

2. 90%+ of them are 'protesting' because it gets them out of the dullness of the classroom to have a bit of fun instead.

I'm sure that's true for some young people but the majority are there for the best reasons.

Let's teach kids in a responsible way about environmental issues, not scare them half to death.

Like shielding them from the truth maybe.

Is that all governments or just the UK - give us your prediction of what that unpalatable law might be.
