....and as for a rise in hate crimes, this was to be entirely expected, since the definition of a hate crime is not what the perpetrator thought at the time of the offence (which is ludicrous enough) but what someone else believes they thought.

Throw in sectionalist interest groups such as MAMA (measuring Anti Muslim Attacks) whose very existence is predicated on encouraging people to report these gormlessly-defined crimes and there's little wonder their numbers have gone through the roof.

A law that law meant that for the first time in English jurisprudence it didn’t matter whether a crime had been committed before an arrest could take place so long as someone could claim to have been “offended” or the victim of a “hate crime”.

Juice has it spot on. Far left and far right (true far right, not the propaganda version) only benefit the elite at the expense of 99.999% of the population who can ill afford it.
