I don't think Robert Mugabe did much good for Zimbabwe

He should have the followed the South African model that was work with the whites after independence

He also betrayed his co rebel leader Nkomo

I would have thought it very hard to say anything good about Mugabe myself

not true. slavery has been with us for millennia. the arab slave trade still goes on, and there are millions of slaves owned by africans now. the first attempt to end it was by the british in 19th century. nobody else thought it was a moral imperative, whether you like to admit it or not. you hear a lot about the atlantic slave trade, but it was comparatively brief and stamped out, in large part, by the british navy which intercepted ships and towed them back to africa. thousands of sailors died in this attempt to end it. not something you hear about.

the chinese have recently bulldozed their way into africa by bribing govt. officials so they can extract minerals and dont give a toss about the environmental degradation they cause. its a disaster. and while they are at it they also kill and export tons of animal body parts from rhino, elephant and other precious creatures for use in grotesque 'medicine'.

BBC reluctant to criticise him. They refer to him as the 'strongman'. Clearly celebrating his blackness and his revenge of the whites. Give me strength....

Shameful write up. The man destroyed Zimbabwe.

grappler 21:25 - bullseye sir. You clearly know Africa.

I've been several times to some of the poorest place. Ancestral loyalty/fatalism plus inherent corruption destroys many of the 50 odd countries there.

I would say some of the places I visited were 1000 years+ behind Europe. That's NO exaggeration. You have to see it to believe it. It's very, very sad.
