I don't think the UK can physically relocate its islands close to the US in order to prevent people from crossing over on boats from France. Don't know the exact legal framework, but with Dublin III not applying anymore after having left the EU, it might actually be more difficult to send them back.

Genuine question. Does anyone think this has been going on for quite awhile, say years, boats turning up on UK beaches. The media have highlighted it since Brexit and make you think it has only just become an issue over the last year.

I've been highlighting this and similar things since 2016 when I was working very close to immigration services in Germany and talked to hundreds of migrants myself.
Suffice it to say that the general public is clueless on immigration, refugees etc. Both towards and out of UK.

The usual suspects on here seem to fall for it as well. The same ones who were blaming social media recently for spreading fake news, when they appear to readily swallow it themselves.

The plot is the dilution of culture/heritage and faith. It's how you destroy a country without using an army in uniform.
I can see why France doesn't stop these people crossing the channel. If I was them I'd supply the boats....
'A man wielding a skewer and knife went on the rampage in the French city of Lyon on Saturday, leaving a 19-year-old man dead and at least eight others injured, including three critically.
A police source said the alleged perpetrator was an Afghan asylum-seeker, unknown previously to both the police and the intelligence services.'

No Injera. But it's still a popular route to European asylum. A ferry out of UK to France. UKIB doesn't share their data with the rest of Europe so people on UK visas can come to Europe and lose their passport and no one will know they came legally to the UK.

Basically it's the Vip route to European asylum. This particular one doesn't work the other way round because most of Europe doesn't dish out student visas like UK does, where it's a business.
