After today, surely Ben Stokes is going to be up there.
not one, but two heroic performances this summer with time remaining for another.

He hit 2.02 as he won the World Cup, drifted to 2.6-2.7 for the last couple of weeks, and I got bits at up to 3.1 on Friday

Yep, missing it dreadfully, some of the finest moments in my bf career. Dogface my favourite winner, Helen Wood the most profitable, great times.

Can any of you remember what odds Freddie Flintoff dropped to after
the 2005 Ashes win and then months later just before the show?
Muzza apparently was as low as 1.05 on the night, but I'm sure
would have been higher months prior to the show.

Stokes was 3.4ish just after the World Cup and dipped to evens at various
hopeful times but was out to 2.9s until the last match turned around.

If Eng don't win The Ashes enough has happened to suggest he may not drift
out anywhere near that far again, perhaps not even getting above evens.
Only if Archer pulls off some amazing stunts is there any chance of a split cricket vote
and that's if they allow two cricketers in the four male nominations,
after allowing for the two obligatory women.

if stokes is odds on ,the umpire joining in the fun by ignoring a stone bonking LBW must be worth a few quid ew LaughLaugh,

To be fair, the DRS made it look a lot less doubtful than it might have actually been to the naked eye.

One of my favourite comments by a commie, I think it was Michael Holding
who once said about a particularly easy LBW decision, in his relaxed Jamaican accent:-

"A man fixing a pipe couldn't be plumber than that".

most famous story was a certain fred trumen playing in sub continent
1st ball hit opener in front off middle and leg, umpire sed not out
2nd ball hit him bang in front of middle , not out sed umpire
3rd ball sent middle stump cartwheeling down ground, fred turned round and sed to umpire that must be close LaughLaugh

the guy that was batting with ben stokes will win it,jack was his name,he was the one under pressure, everyone who seen it felt that is Jack can hold on England can win,Ben is expected to score runs, but poor Jack had to look through a pair of sweaty spectacles as the rock hard cricket ball came hurtling towards him,the poor man could not even see.But Jack risked life and limb for his country and stuck to the job everyone in the nation wanted him to do.IT was Jack that was under far more pressure rather than Ben who is a recognised batsman.
SO ITS JACK WHO SHOULD BE 1.01 IN MY BOOK.Wink

And he had to constantly wipe his glasses, that takes a lot of doing under pressure.

WHEN THEY MAKE THE FILM ABOUT IT jack will have a bad back, and a twisted knee and will be made look 30 years older than he really is,Ben will be a young high flying fit 21 year old who scores runs for fun,and faith will pair them together,
but remember Ben had a choice with every ball, poor old JACK was shaking in his boots ,could not see,and if he is out he is blamed,However IF Ben is out he is still cheered.
Now how does that Hollywood movie end?LaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh
