We can all agree on this then? Or will the dribbling doc feel obliged to remain playing the contrarian?
Report doridoru August 23, 2019 7:17 PM BST
I think we call condemn mankind...though I notice there's barely any mention of the actual wildlife, animals wiped out etc, that's what is so disgusting, its their home.

There's also still primitive people that call it home, some of whom share as much as 70% of their DNA with ourselves.

Heard it on the news that there's a million indigenous people living in the amazon. Not sure why but I found this surprising as thought there were only scattered tribes with small numbers. I really should get more involved as I consider the Amazon to be amazing.

When it comes to the Amazon a loss is a loss its never a gain. We had the chance to buy  huge swathes of the Amazon for a couple of billion pounds but Gordon Brown didn't take up the offer

I like to observe words, and in passing I'll note that when trying to attack a government (in this case democratically elected), and ONLY then, attackers use the word "regime".

Watch for C4 news (bias be thy name) in particular doing it...

Dear friends across the UK,

Columns of fire are rising into the sky, flames plunging entire landscapes into dark red -- the Amazon is ablaze and scientists predict large parts of the rainforest could soon turn into dry savannah...

But in 24 hours, the world's seven most powerful nations are meeting in France, discussing the Amazon as a top priority. The UK will be at the table and holds the key to save the forest -- as it is pushing for a bilateral trade deal ahead of Brexit, that Brazil's President urgently wants to get approved.

This is our chance to make him act!

If we flood the Foreign Minister and PM Boris Johnson's office with thousands of messages right now, we can push the government to block the trade deal, unless Brazil takes urgent and immediate steps to save the Amazon. The clock is ticking -- click below to send a message:

Tell the UK: stop the trade deal with Brazil, save the Amazon!

Half a billion trees have been lost in the Amazon just in the past year, and now the forest fires are shocking the world. Our members in Brazil just delivered 1.1 million voices to the Brazilian Congress calling on them to act -- it's up to our global community now to join forces with them and get world leaders to act before we entirely lose the lungs of the world.

With hope and determination,

Christoph, Diego, Laura, Nana, Joseph, Marie, Bert and the rest of the Avaaz team

Macron mentions it and suddenly the press is all over it.

Has been going on for year decades (although stepped up recently).

The reality is the rich western world burn all its forests centuries ago and profited from it.

If we expect countries like Brazil to not do so for the good of the world we need to pay them massive sums not to do it.
