Father saying the decision of the British Government to strip him of his citizenship is unfair.
Also complaining that they haven't told him why. Went on to say he didn't know what wrong his son had done. Should go back to Canada if he's that unhappy. |

some dumb lefties against this here;
I know it's hard for old idiots like alun to understand but being critical of the process isn't defending him or Shamima Begum for example though. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/jihadi-jack-stripped-of-british-citizenship-htsdbf92r Andrew Mitchell, the former international development secretary, made his comments it was revealed that the Home Office had stepped in to revoke the citizenship of Jack Letts, 24, in one of the final acts of Theresa May’s administration. Letts, a Muslim convert from Oxford, was exposed as the first white British male to join the jihadist group after he travelled to Syria as a teenager in 2014. Mr Mitchell said it was not in the national interest for ministers to eschew responsibility for “dangerous, evil” jihadists who hail from Britain. Mr Mitchell poured scorn on the government’s attitude towards citizenship revocation. He told The Times: “As a member of the United Nations security council, Britain sets a bad example to other countries if we do not take responsibility for such dangerous, evil people, as a result of rescinding their citizenship. “It is not in our own interests or those of other innocent countries that such people should be left stateless and unaccountable. What if Canada follows this bad example?” Tobias Ellwood, a former defence minister, also weighed in, warning that the move “shunts the responsibility elsewhere” when many fighters were “radicalised here in the UK”. In a statement posted online, he said: “If [we] are to stay safe and prevent Isis 2.0 we must work with our allies and think more strategically than simply removing UK citizenship from radicalised dual nationals.” |
