It is a very interesting point that Owen Jones's most famous moment is when he steadfastly refused to accept that the motive of a muslim guy shooting men in a g/y bar in the US might be religiously motivated, and storming out of a studio in a toddler tantrum when challenged on the idea of it, and in this case he apparently psychicically knows the motives of people who attacked him late on on a night out. 2 for 2.
Maybe he is "Captain Motive" and his superpower is he knows what everyone around him thinks, or at least when doing something wrong. Or he's just an arrogant so and so who always thinks he's right based on no evidence? |

CNN is a 24 hour news channel; 23 hours of which are used to lambast Trump, the other hour i have left out for the weather & the odd sports bulletin. This country is going down the same path; in fact it is turning worse as in America they have Fox to counteract CNN. There is not one "right-wing" (i dislike the term left or right btw) news, comedy or current affairs programme on TV, & there are dozens of the other persuasion - why?

Most of the comedy slots are half an hour. The RW comics tend to ramble on to the extent that it would be v difficult to edit them down into that.

too many want the plaudits for bashing Trump (or Brexit or Boris etc) but are nowhere to be seen when it comes to actually standing up for left wing values. that's why I and many others consider the media no ally in most cases, what does only bashing my opponents achieve? I very much doubt you are a fan of Ash Sarkar either but her and Owen are very passionate on left issues.
I don't particularly watch much standup or panel comedy but there is only so much you can do with politics based stuff. there are only so many unoriginal jokes you can do about Trump being dumb (likewise, whinging about how people are so easily offended these days or SJW based stuff on the other side). get rid of them all tbh  from what I gather the other two are distinctly more liberal at least but HIGNFY was amongst the places that our now PM was able to cultivate his reputation. I think people are overestimating the power or influence of these shows or the belief that the comedy shows = the editorial line.The stations we mentioned would still be as negative about the next person with politics like Bernie, they won't be as negative about the next Republican president IMO. When the "left" media in the west do nothing to support the two most prominent unabashed lefties and the policies they promote, they can't be considered as left. Corbyn's perceived incompetence would be an irrelevance in this instance. There's a great book coming out in the US by some commentator who interviewed a bunch of Dem strategists on how to beat Trump, probably all of which were responsible for losing the first time round. and if they are listened to a second time, will let him win again |
