At Catford greyhound stadium in the mid 80's (my local track) I had 18 losers in a row in one week. 3 were odds on and in one race my own dog won @ 7/1 and I never had a shilling on him (the trainer told me to back his other one in the race, the 9/4 jolly ). That was my worst run ever.

What was the average payout? Back in the 80s and 90s I would back the one from each section on the football coupon the same teams all in different divisions it would come up on average twice a season paying around 46/1

I had over 40 consecutive losing bets about 7/8 years ago. I was at the bags racing all day every day backing rags mainly, never forget it , lost about 400 in total, longest winning streak less than double figures . The ground was very fast at most tracks and the jolly boys were having an outing

I didn't do it on here; it was at Koral. First acca was a fiver and ended up with about £200. I didn't reinvest all my winnings each time as I didn't expect to keep winning.

When I used to log bets I recall having a run of winners that, if accumulated, would have equalled 1,700/1 (approx.), which included USA ending Spain's run at 16/1. I'm not sure how many bets that took though.

Looking at some of losing streaks imagine if you tried to lay them instead of backing a winner, sods law half of them would win. A work colleague once told me he layed 8 winners on the bounce and all but wiped his bf account out

Sorry for stating the obvious (but some may not have thought of this): Unless you are betting on coin tosses then the probability will vary on the sort of thing you are betting on and bets, so assuming odds are broadly correct, probability of X winners winning (or losers losing) in a row is their probability multiplied through. Some people will bet on say 1.2 football markets, horse racing from my limited knowledge will generally be far more lower probability winners.
So unless it's lots of more odds on bets, the odds are you'll get more runs of losers than winners.
If you haven't stood back and thought about it that way you might think it's "bad luck" or the world out to get you if you have bigger losing than winning streaks.
Doesn't mean the world ISN'T out to get you though. I think it is, I should never have shot that albatross with broken mirror shards..

Joking apart, Best run I got was 19 winners on the trot on NFL Handicap Betting (10/11 each of 2) spread over 10 bookies.
Horses, most winners on the bounce would be 9 at odds ranging from 4/5 to 16/1.
