Is it worth it

If all you can eat is that Vegan muckSad

Enjoying our food is supposed to be one of the pros of life.,

Well lads it depends on what type of Vegan diet you eat there are plenty misconceptions and general cluelessness, one things for sure a correctly supplemented Low fat Plant based diet is the healthiest way of eating to avoid all chronic illness and live healthier for longer.
My way of Vegan is one most people would like and be able to adapt to what they like very easily.

Normal day Orange juice/Coffee,any fruit, exercise, flavoured Protein blended with fruit,Jacket potatoes with Bean Chilli, more fruit, any packet rice with peas/Beetroot,fruit,porridge or cornflakes with Almond milk and fruit.
Any filtered water Coffee or fruit juice any time easy peasy, healthy and tasty + suppplements vary on activity and cycles and occasionally add Chia/flax/Hemp seeds to porridge or smoothies.

Lots of misconceptions as I said can adjust volumes of food depending on what I'm doing can take weight any way at any time.

Nathan Pritikin is worth listening too absolutely outstanding knowledge and understanding explains things easily for anyone to understand, have checked plenty of what he talks about all studies he quotes are backed up in peer reviewed papers online.
Unfortunately he developed Cancer from exposure to radiation in the 50s and ended up taking his own life due to the suffering but was found to have cleared his arteries after having heart disease earlier in life.
Others have said there is no doubt his diet and lifestyle kept him alive for longer than he should have.

Pritikin mentions life expectancy on this video.

Was originally concerned about eating too much fruit due to studies saying excess fructose gets turned to body fat which I've since found to be false when I came across the skinniest people I've seen online who are Raw Fruitarians, they eat nothing but raw fruit and some extremists don't drink extra water.
They were putting away 4-5000 calories per day from fruit and their wasn't a picking on them so I had no issue adding more to my diet and dropping some veg.
Not sure what else the study subjects ate alongside the excess fructose they probably ate more fat and protein which will make a huge difference,if you live completely off fruit and starch any excess carbs are burned by heat after refilling liver and muscle glycogen and won't be stored as fat.

It`s better told in a pub Denzel as someone always jumps in, looking rather upset and asks, "That is very sad. What happened to them"?

The fear of refined sugars is misplaced when on a low fat plant based diet as evidenced by Walter Kempner in the late 1930s.

https://www.drmcdougall.com/2013/12/31/walter-kempner-md-founder-of-the-rice-diet/

If you're exercising especially endurance events like cycling, running and swimming drinking sugar (glucose/dextrose is best) pre and post workouts has huge effects on performance recovery and progression and will not make you fat if you are on a diet of around 80% carbs 10% protein and 10% fat calorie wise, more carbs the better.
Report DenzilPenberthy August 7, 2019 3:03 AM BST
Aye they would if you'd spelled 'herbivore' as 'herbefore' I probably would've asked a question.

Easy healthy way of life thanks to Dr Crippen on here got me old mother back in better health last year after her 2nd hip op and other health issues, she usually eats no meat/dairy (barring what's in her tea) low fat 5 or 6 days per week.
Every Sunday Beef dinner and what ever pudding but the rest of the time she's stuck it out and her health has benefitted, doesn't take any pain medications now and is far more active than she's been for many years.
She's got a rare incurable autoimmune disease which the symptoms have improved also so after seeing the improvements has stuck it and only eats what she likes.

I'm not sure I'll ever go vegan but the health benefits of it only seem to be questioned by those with vested interests elsewhere or relying on tired stereotypes.

I know plenty of wrestlers are vegan and I assume you'd see an increasing amount across sport too.

When I am driving up and down the motorways and A roads especially up here in the North of England and Scotland, I can't help noticing how empty most farmers fields are some completely other with an handful of livestock.
I aways think there most be a better way of farming or a better more productive  use for this land, especially with the massive advances in agricultural technology. Just seems a waste to me for an hand full of sheep
Report Coachbuster August 7, 2019 1:53 PM BST
genetics surely are the big decider on how long you live  ...vegans on a healthy diet  might manage a couple more years on average .  Vegans maybe smoke and drink less too  ...i don't know

nothing wrong is vegan food (what i've tried is quite good)  .... if it's  prepared by someone with some food knowledge   ...obviously some areas of society  aren't going to appreciate the food anyway ,as their taste buds  have been dulled by too much junk sadly . Grin

I don’t want to live to be 100.

Many vegans (perhaps a majority) choose to be so for ethical reasons; the health benefits are just a consequential bonus.

If done properly you'll live healthier for longer which is what most people want instead of developing lots of unnecessary chronic illnesses in middle age, genes will play a part of course the thing is you can sully good genes with poor food and lifestyle.
As soon as you get onto the medication carousel there aint many who can get off one thing leads to another and you're fcuked basically,it's noticeable that people are getting sicker younger the meds help this process along.
Report Coachbuster August 7, 2019 2:46 PM BST
