Product of an ever increasing overcrowded USA the population has gone from around 190 million in 1970 to 350 plus million today.
Massive demographic change has lead to a nervous population who feel they are being marginalised by a powerful elite. Things are going to get a lot worse before if ever they get better

Quite a miracle the kid is still alive dropping 5 floors.

My psychiatry degree is still in the post but since there is no rational explanation for this -- not robbery or rape or even terrorism -- surely mental illness must be favourite. (Assuming reports the boy was thrown are correct. The witness reports I've seen do not mention that but perhaps the ones who directly saw the incident were taken to the police station to make statements and were therefore unavailable to reporters.)

A six-year-old boy is in a critical but stable condition after he was "thrown" from the 10th floor of the Tate Modern art gallery in London.

The Met Police said there was nothing to suggest he was known to the victim and officers were still trying to "establish the circumstances of yesterday's incident".

A force spokesman added the child was "no longer in a life-threatening situation".

A six-year-old boy who was "thrown" from the 10th floor of the Tate Modern art gallery was a French national visiting London with his family.

The Met Police said it was treating the "truly shocking incident" as an "isolated event with no distinct or apparent motive".

A 17 year old assailant,if not mental health it may well be a cannabis user or anti depressant user, seems to be a frequent explanation that comes out after the speculation settles down.

Nancy Barnfield said she and her two young sons were stalked on the viewing platform by a stranger only seconds before the horrifying incident. The 47-year-old from Rochdale was so alarmed that she warned her children to avoid him.

She said: 'He followed us around everywhere. I told my kids to stay away from that man, it went on for ages. He was acting so weird. He had his hands behind his back the whole time, his back to the wall, just watching people. We walked away from him then immediately when he was out of sight a woman was screaming 'My son, my son' and people were grabbing him.'

The child was snatched from his mother's arms by a stranger who hurled him over a barrier on the tenth floor.

She said the suspect was tall, white and bearded and became 'completely calm and silent' when detained by gallery visitors. 'He didn't fight back, didn't shout or anything,' she added. 'He was just emotionless.'

Last night it was reported that when asked why he had thrown the boy over the railing, the suspect had responded that it was the fault of social services. The witness added that a bystander then punched the suspect in the face before he was led to a toilet for his own protection.

What's the odds the punching bystander gets sued?
Sounds like this was avoidable what are the security staff looking for?

What's the odds the punching bystander gets sued?

............ Possible but I wouldn't be in the least surprised if they appeal for witnesses to the assault issuing a full description of the assailant rather than the 'suspicious acting' youth Crazy

The suspect was tall, white and bearded, with some sort of grudge against social services. The description does not actually say nutty as a fruitcake but that is the obvious inference. The man who punched him was obviously a prat since the suspect had already been detained at that point. It is unlikely this is the first man he's punched.

Let us hope le garçon français makes a full recovery.

That is very quick.

It still seems to be unclear as to whether he gave escort staff the slip whilst accompanied on a day out or absconded from the unit without the knowledge of carers.

In any case, I hope someone at the unit is called to account.

From The Sun:

A former carer who worked with the alleged attacker last year told The Sun: “He’s one of the most difficult and challenging mental patients I’ve ever encountered.

"He is stockily built and gets angry when he is denied something that he wants or is told what to do.

“He’s not allowed out unless accompanied by at least two support staff.

“He’s also intelligent. I watched an edition of the TV quiz show The Chase with him once and he answered every single question correctly.

“Something must have gone seriously wrong at the Tate because he’s not allowed out unless accompanied by at least two support staff.

"There will have to be a serious inquiry into what he was doing there.”

Police were investigating whether the teenager absconded from his unit or bolted from staff escorting him on a day trip.

A Met spokesman confirmed: “Mental health is being explored as a line of inquiry.”

As for the claim regarding The Chase; if you believe that, I've got a nice bridge near the Tower of London I'd like to sell you at a knock-down price.

they probably want this done & dusted as quick as poss. He's in their books so no need for a 6 month admin collation. Internal bolloxings that we will never hear about; under 18 so no one can question them about him. A right little done & dust job

Sounds like the true responsibility lies with those who were supposed to be looking after him.  If someone has a Staffie that they let off-lead and it attacks people, the owner is responsible.  Same applies here.
