Don't mess around with bleaches or insect killer go straight in with boiling water  have a pan ready with some more fill the kettle again and repeat.
It's very rare for me to be affected but was last weekend some flies must've laid eggs in the bin and noticed it when going to put the dog out, through trial and error found the boiling water to kill them straight away didn't have time to check what to do but had to keep ontop of things for hours later as they get everywhere and hide everywhere.

Seems a more efficient way than sticking them on hooks and trying to drown them in rivers on the end of sticks.

I've seen quite a few blokes try that.

Wait for them to become flies and spray them with "RAID".....

Jeyes fluid kills them. I have occasionally seen where young calves have been debudded during the summer and the blow fly lays the eggs where the bud has been removed. The maggots then bore towards the calves brain. It can't be treated with scalding water obviously but a jeyes fluid solution does the

years back when living on my own, i cooked a chicken, put in the fridge, and went outfor the day, didnt come back for 4/5 days, got to front door went inside the worst smell imaginable, i didnt have a clue what it was. After a few mins opened the fridge door, it was horrible, the chicken was covered in maggotts, but yes i had the same problem as op last week with the bins , i poured hot boiling water as well, seems to have done the trick, but afterwards when cleaning the bin i noticed some of the maggotts were stuck to the side of the bin like glue and were black?
