I'm open minded about it. I just can't stand the fake news.
They can't say 'hottest day ever' when their records go back a fortnight. I have my doubts because the Earth is 71% water and apart from the tankers and oil rigs it's empty. Most of Africa and indeed China is underpopulated. Africa is massive and has very little industrialisation. Russia, Canada etc have vast unindustrialsed areas. Not sure me driving a diesel makes a lot of difference but I may be wrong. |

Do I believe we only have temperature data going back 130 years? Why wouldn't I? I made the bible comparison as it seemed like an extreme example of something that can't be proved incorrect. Similarly there is no way of knowing that the tallest man ever was 8ft 11.1in - we call him Robert 'Fake News' Wadlow round our way.

Let me be up-front about why I'm asking about a previous ice-age. Some of you have mentioned that temperature records only go back about 130 years. But some of you also think there was at least one previous ice-age. Why do you think there was an ice-age?

Had to Google GBoR. I was trying to show a contradiction in what you're saying. On the one-hand you're saying that temperature records only go back 130 years so you believe them but on the other hand you believe in an ice-age before those temperatures started being recorded. There are other ways of determining temperatures other than a thermometer.

I have no idea as to why we have these extreme weather cycles, I just think we have had them and think we will see them again. But we could be talking in 1000's of years, not the relatively short 100 years or so we can pull data from. My thoughts are we have and will always have climate change.

We always will have climate change. The question here is the globe actually getting warmer because of man or not. The overwhelming evidence is that is it getting warmer because of us. It's not a natural cycle but a man-made one.

Charlie, I'm not sure how I can be clearer about this - I was initially being sarcastic towards Injera's assertion that this can't be the (2nd) hottest day ever as we only have records going back 130 years. The bit where I state that 'if the Donald, Arnie and Injera say it's bollox, that's good enough for me' should have been a clue I was taking the piss!

Climate change has been cyclical over the millions of years this planet has existed... hotter, cooler, hotter, cooler. Nothing, where temperature is concerned, is static. It fluctuates over the eons. So, climate change is a definite.... but, man-made climate change??? Do me a favour. Don't be so daft. If it was that easy to change the climate of an entire planet, let's go and change the climate of all the planets in the solar system. It can't be that difficult surely??

Don't be silly that would mean no more luxury free ££££s Today its been 22 degrees and tomorrow is 19 degrees, so our 3 day "armageddon heatwave" is over and we wont be back above 25 probably for the rest of summer So 3 days throughout summer was the pinnacle of our summer, but it was still man made climate change ffs  |
