Five mins of reading what the Heritage Foundation or Republicans in the last half century in general have been up to and you might come to more cynical view to what they're getting to here but as far as this instance goes perhaps they just went a little far, that's why they backpedalled for a bit initially. Then trump who is possibly under the impression he should have his fascist wonderland overnight just doubled down because that's how he handles any criticism. and party followed suit anyway
Not to be downplaying the weight of those comments and not that the aim isn't slow ramp (racial) divide but this right now might somewhat be the level of stir they want, distraction of other issues more pressing, and not to actually start a race war before 2020 elections. but maybe I'm giving these masterminds too much credit Here's to it all backfiring spectacularly because it didnt in fact help reelection as the abnormal voter turnout it could lead to is their biggest hurdle to it |
