We have the responsibility to deliver a curriculum that enables our children to understand the benefits that exist in a society where diversity and difference are celebrated. In addition to this, we need our children to want to be part of that society- we have to sell that to them. That desire may not come naturally by itself.
What is ‘No Outsiders’ about? •Teaching children to respect and accept difference and diversity. •Using the Equality Act 2010 (British law) as a solid foundation. •Taking a pro-active approach to bullying. •Reducing potential for radicalisation (Prevent). •Preparing children for life in modern Britain. •Teaching British values. What is the Equality Act? What does the word ‘equality’ mean? The principle of equality is that everyone should be treated fairly, without suffering prejudice or discrimination. The Equality Act was made British law in 2010. It protects you from various forms of discrimination. There are 9 characteristics within the Equality Act. Protected Characteristics under the Equality Act 2010 • Age • Sexual orientation • Gender identity • Marriage and Civil Partnership • Pregnancy and Maternity • Race • Religion • Gender • Disability How is it taught? •35 picture books (5 per year group from EYFS to year 6). •Picture books deal with the characteristics within the Equality Act. •Each characteristic is taught in context with British law. •Clear progression through key stages. •Creates and develops a whole school ethos. |

Can someone please explain to me what is harmful about this being within the school curriculum ?
Explain using the framework that drives the lessons, not a framework you have developed for yourself. |
|
By:
Very simple. it should be left until they are at secondary school and of a better age to understand such stuff.
|
|
By:
Are you an expert on the mental capacity of children ?
Me neither, but I'm guessing that the people responsible for putting together school curriculum's are. You're currently engaged in a thread on the politics forum with pa lapsy regarding sectarianism. When do you think people become infected with the twisted beliefs that fuel this ugly hatred ? Does that only start when they reach secondary school ? |
|
By:
Are you an expert on the mental capacity of children ?
He's been on this forum since 2008. |
|
By:
Why are people so determined to put this stuff in kids heads?
|
|
By:
Or that they'd burn in hell for it?
|

Have a proper look at what they are actually being taught, not what you think they are being taught.
The material is based around the Equalities Act, a piece of legislation, the law of the land. Seriously, have a look at this http://www.thesynaptictrust.org/files/No_Outsiders.pdf |

By:
"equalities act"?
Oh the "act" they put into law in 2010? it really isn't the law of the land, angoose Its an act not law, they can't bs as much as they like with saying its written into law but it really isn't |
|
By:
Any act isn't law of the land
Its something made up by politicians so they can continue to enslave and dumb down the populace |
|
By:
If we have law of the land why do we need "acts"
? |
|
By:
A draft act, known as a bill, is processed.
Once approved, it becomes an act of parliament and is incorporated in to law. Let's not quibble over the technicalities. Kids are being taught about the need to treat various groups in society in a equitable basis. Quite why any parent would object to this, I struggle to understand. I have a 6 year old and a 4 year old. Since they could talk, they have been taught the principles of equality, this will continue at school. Again, I struggle to understand why anyone would object to this. |

Think some are worried in case any of their family are turned and told that being gay is genetic.
|
|
By:
An act that none of us get any say over?
Its not allowed to be incorporated into law until we get a vote on it or shouldn't be Democracy. Remember? |
|
By:
We have a representative democracy, you vote for your MP, and they represent their constituents in parliament.
|
|
By:
Why are people so determined to put this stuff in kids heads?
I told you earlier, re-read it............. |

Are you serious ?
Look at the chaos caused by one single referendum ![]() |
|
By:
That's the media causing the chaos
Once the vote has been made we all accept it and move on The media are no longer allowed to talk about it after, its done and over with, they will now be officially only reporting not giving their own beliefs etc, if they do try to influence a vote they are sacked and tossed onto the streets for life |
|
By:
Perhaps they could devise animal characters to represent the LBTQ community, or would that just confuse the kids even more?
mouse Muldoon What animals would you suggest mouse ...I will to think about that one |
|
By:
Parents cannot completely control their kid's schooling...
There are some things all children need to be taught... |
|
By:
As long as it is age appropriate...secondary schools better for sex education, when children reach puberty

Who says they are unable to? Shilling sheeple like Denzil are perfectly able to explain that people who don't fit the narrow schematics of their masters are satanic abominations.
|
|
By:
Hey Aaron, can you believe that brilliant free thinking researcher Denzil, who is only ever posting provable truth, is throwing a hissy fit about a book with married male sea horses (to wimmin sea osses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) that educates children that there are animals out there where the males primarily take care of the offsprings?

It's like an increasingly warped and frantic version of Whac-A-Mole, the harder they push this "diversity" filth the more contradictions and conflicts emerge, fleetingly hammered back into place by the "Diversity is a strength" padded mantra hammer. Except, clearly, by any observable metric diversity is not a strength at all, on the contrary it is clearly a massive weakness.
