many a student has earned their degree on a diet of beans on toast & cider.  All that happens when we get older is we progress (digress) to avocado on toast & champers

I sometimes make them myself for a laugh.

Also I mix cheese or paprika with beans, or curry powder.

Interesting, I see Heinz are bringing Beans Pizzas back for their 150 year anniversary this year!

My idea of heaven as well. Funnily I never take brown sauce with Heinz beans only branston beans.

Beans on toast is about as healthy as you can get if you leave out the butter and other stuff.

Good to see support for Branston beans, my fav also.

i used to love M&S beans; then was told they were C&B beans. Then i found out that Branstons were also C&B beans; so started using them. Never looked back

Branston and C+B are not the same baph.

Branston is now owned by Mizkan baph, they are visually different in the tin and the recipes vary slightly.

Thicker sauce than other brands baph, I don't like soggy toast. Darker and less sweet than the rest imo, extra paprika?

I use Heinz Barbecue Beans.

Baked beans on toast, be they Branston or Heinz, with thick cut white bread and salted butter with a few rashers of crispy unsmoked bacon and lots of HP sauce is a great way to start your day.

It's funny how tastes change as you get older .. I've started really liking swiss muesli which I didn't like at all years ago.

It might be a side effect but I'm also now considering taking up yodeling. Glastonbury here we come !

i fear saddo is correct about the recipe change

so it looks like a new, improved make is needed. Any suggestions? Heinz are a no go, but open to all others?

Worst recipe change in HISTORY was when they changed curry super noodles from a lovely mild curry to tasting like liquorice and made them totally inedible.

I'll NEVER forgive them for that! WHY!

why can't they just leave things alone? Now i know why we have much smaller chocky bars; but why take the sugar & salt out of everything? You will never ever stop me using salt, you imbecilic spoilers! I mean now when i buy some ready salted crisps; i sit there with tub of sea salt close to hand, to add when required

Many long moons ago "Birds Instant Whip" was thick and creamy, and produced one pint from one sachet.

Why the hell did they turn it into an aerated, soapy tasting mousse?

It was my delicious tasting dessert, before heading out on the lash!

It always makes me smile when I see them on the telly claiming they can't afford to feed their families.

A tin of beans and a loaf of bread comes to less than a quid in Aldi.

A bag of spuds just over a quid, greens are cheap too.

A bag of Oats - £1.45.

Sweet corn and rice cheap.
Milk 50p a litre. 

Plenty good enough for those who can't support themselves.

i've not tried Aldi beans, or anything else from there come to think of it. Does anyone have experience of them, beans that is?

I prefer Branston Beans, no others will do

tbh when I am reduced to eating beans on toast it usually my betting plans have not come together
