Got one tomorrow for a large company

Apparently there's drug tests, filling in application form, maths/english exams,

Lasts all day with being there from 8:30 till 3:00

Is it a guaranteed job? or do they take the best applicants?

If you haven't already been given a job offer then this is a trial as opposed to an induction. The tests would also suggest this is not an induction.

Drug and alcohol tests and the maths and english tests means its not an induction then?

There's no specific job title I've been sent for either, its just turn up in work boots and attend the "induction", its the job centre that have sent me so nothing makes sense with them Laugh

Its 5 hours long which tells me its not an induction either, so a trial day sounds about right then?

It could be an induction aka. When I worked on the Work Programme we used to send clients (unemployed) to inductions. As long as there are no hiccups the job is usually guaranteed

Alien abduction a more likely scenario imo.

I understand that but this sounds like more of a trial day? like the drug and alcohol tests etc

Did any of your cliants ever get sent down inductions like this, aspro?

All the time. Drug tests are the norm, especially in a warehouse (which this sounds like?). I hope you said you didn't have work boots, because the Job Centre would provide you with a new pair.

No I've got work boots

Its working with food, will a skin condition effect my chances?

sounds like a cheap labour introduction of a Government scheme to get you off the books

Should have said you didn't have boots (unless previously provided by the job centre). No idea with medical conditions, but if you dealing with food you'll be provided with gloves etc

Oh no doubt, bap

But to be honest I'm more concerned about my health conditions being a problem

I think the job centre haven't declared them and its a case of trying to explain them Sad

I should be fine with one of them but its the other I've got a major problem with Sad

After try and wing it

If you refuse a job you'll lose your benefits. If they refuse you because of health issues then you'll be fine

what about a note off your doc? Good luck SS & i hope i'm wrong & it works out well for you
By:

I wont be refusing it

But I think i'm going to be refused because of the health condition, there's no chance of not declaring it because its a health and safety issue sadly

Bap

This health condition has meant I had to book a doctors appointment last week, still waiting on a call back though ffs

I've declared my condition to the job centre and they've put it on their system but I have bothered with a doctors note to be honest

Bit pointless sending you to a job you cannot get
By:

When: 26 Jun 19 16:55
You best hope they don't ask you something simple such as what shape are the earth and moon.

This is my point though, I've told them loads of times about my health condition. the companies don't want someone who has something that doesn't allow him to work 8 hour shifts ffs. Once I go into any type of detail about it you can see their faces pretty much saying why the fu** have you wasted our time

Its just another interview where I have to explain the "condition" to them and they knock me back ffs

I'd answer it honestly and politely, its flat and the moon is a disc

I'd then debate them on it for the entire induction process if they liked Happy

And then you'll be back signing on. It shows you are illiterate.
By:
SontaranStratagem

Its all opinions, Charlie

And if that was the reason they turned me down I'd like to see the job centres reaction to be honest Laugh

Any job should require a basic level of intelligence. You'd fail on that.

I bet I pass the English and Maths test, that's basic intelligence?

When I joined Royal Mail in 2003 we had a week-long induction in an office room before actually starting.  We spend the best part of one day being taught how to pick things up off the floor.  We did get paid though and had a good laugh.  Especially when, during the discussion about dog attacks, we were told to 'keep our package between us and the dog'.

I'd run for it lyber

Aspro its a bit obvious when people fail them? like surely they aren't that dumb?

Did anyone fail such tests when you were working on the programme?

Bap, yeah it would be wise to be honest

Just saying you have a condition isn't enough
By:
Baphornet
When: 26 Jun 19 17:09
well it might be a blessing in disguise, SS. Best get it done for future reference if needed

Yeah, loads failed them if I'm being honest. IQ's go in both directions from mean 100
By:

So they failed to get the job based on that test?

Take a stool sample in with you.
By:
Aspro
When: 26 Jun 19 17:14
No, we tested them and then tried to find work suitable to their needs. If you'd struggle with the tests then we'd probably get a car cleaning job or similar. Steady work, pays minimum wage and everyone's happy

Aspro

Loads of jobs for everyone out there. Low IQ doesn't mean unemployable

And I don't see how they can be failed Laugh

You'll be fine with the tests. Your posts suggest that, hence why they've put you up. Makes your adviser look good and doing his/her job
