lovely footage ...i love watching these old clips .
the film suggests good times all round and no cares in the world , a snapshot of a Sunday afternoon on a packed beach on a hot day in Lancashire and i would've love to've been there that day -it looks fabulous . the rest of the week though working in a factory/mill and a life of drudgery no doubt . these would be the working classes in the main and you knew your place ,no chance of upward mobility in those days . I wish there was such a thing as a time travel holiday ...i would book one tomorrow but 2019 for everyday life thanks ![]() |

In them days a carbon footprint was just something you brought back from the pit, possibly earning a clip round the ear off the missus.

You wouldn't last 5 minutes down the pits mush.

There are a few of these films about - Torbay 1968 (which was promoted as a British eqv to SoFrance with its cordyline trees
- you can grow actually the real CIDP ones there these days ) ...there's one of Southend ... Brighton as well . As foreign travel got cheaper folk spread their wings and UK resorts took a bashing .... Blackpool and Yarmouth became no go zones while resorts such as Brighton and Bournemouth regenerated ..holidays in Salcombe ,Swanage ,St Ives nowadays cost a few quid ....no idea how Blackpool is these days but i get the feeling a resort has to be in the right area to do really well ...Cornwall , Dorset etc |

The light here in the heart of England is just as good, as long as you pick the right time of day.
