I think you were right first time mouse... crutch is an aid to walking. Both can be used but from my understanding crotch is English and correct.

Edwards visited the town during the first weekend of May for the next 50 years. This event was called "Fiesta" and included a beauty contest, a parade, and a stage show. There's a place near me called Catbrain Hill.

Here in Norfolk we have a village called Drake's Bottom. In actual fact there's really two villages. If you live south of the river that runs through the village you live in Lower Drake's Bottom and if you live north of the river you live in Upper Drake's Bottom.
