As a junior officer who was lucky enough to be the base duty officer just after a military crash about 20 years ago, I also wore the hat of "search and rescue officer" for 24 hours, including handling images of the wreckage that were relayed back to base. I saw the photos of the crash wreckage, which unfortunately killed two guys I knew. Nobody who didn't know better would believe that that hole in the ground contained a whole aircraft and two people. But it did. One of the really freaky parts was seeing the fabric flying suits virtually intact, with no body in them. I was told that the body virtually "sieves through" the fabric at such high impact; and it seems the only explanation for what I saw. The investigators were even able to determine, for some of the duplicated instrument fragments, which were left-hand and which were right-hand instruments by the DNA coating, and in some instances embedded in, the fragments. :/ The largest part they found of either body was a section of jaw bone containing two teeth. There were some "pink smears" in places, but that was the only solid part. From this black hole in the ground that appeared to contain nothing other than a trashcan full of parts, they eventually recreated virtually the whole aircraft in a hangar, as part of the accident investigation. A lot of the debris wasn't visible to me in those early photos; there were thousands of small parts of metal buried in the soil due to the force of the impact, which were only found after the whole soil was stripped and sieved. https://www.quora.com/What-do-debris-of-aircraft-accidents-typically-look-like A similar thing happened at Shanskville and to Flight 1771. A bit more: .... People expect to see at least this much debris, but with a high angle of impact, and/or high speed, you simply don't see anything that looks like an aircraft; you see charred bits of metal - broken up into tiny pieces - and possibly some larger parts from the engine and landing gear. You probably wouldn't even be grossed out by human remains unless you went picking through carefully, because there wouldn't be anything resembling a body, either. It does seem difficult to believe, but having witnessed it "almost first hand", and having sat in on numerous accident investigation seminars, I assure you that an aircraft accident simply doesn't look like what most people expect. |

Of course John Waffle Henry had looked at all plane crashes and knows what the wreckage should look like. He obviously doesn't know the difference between crashes at take-off and landing compared to relatively rare high impact crashes. The wreckage is completely different. But let's not talk facts let's get back to his waffle.
