Pope changes words to lords prayer

The pope has never been one to be overly concerned with the luxury gap

Our Father, witch fart in Devon.

Alan be thy name

BLASTFURNACE THREAD REPORTED

Infiddlers thread.

Can remember being at my brothers confirmation anyone who had to endure this charade will know the priest asks 'What is your name?' you say 'John' for example he does his spiel and you say Amen.
The Filipino lad Hascal only chose the name Amen so you can imagine the sketch show style happenings with the priest repeatedly asking 'What is your name?' and the poor lad repeatedly replying Amen with back and forths trying to bridge the language barrier til a teacher stepped in.
Always comes to mind when I see Catholic word play.

Who's on first?

What I always wanted to know was how they could tell holy water from the normal sort that keeps us all alive?
Did they only use holy water on the flames of Notre Dame, or was the regular stuff OK for that job?

Mo Salah, who art football heaven
Hallowed be thy name

Got you started there popey lad.

Mo Salah, who art football heaven
Hallowed be thy name
Dives will be done
At Anfield and Old Trafford

Agree with you, PP

I have got a soft spot for Salah, one because of his football but also because of his lovely smile.

Oi Father not in my nethers
What on earth is your game
I'm very young so is my bum
Your girth is not welcome
No I won't give you daily head
Or forgive you your lust of asses
Nor do we forgive those who ejaculate against us
Lead us not into temptation
And deliver us from paedos

Amen

Loved the episode of 'The Intelligence' podcast by the Economist the other day

It described how Mo Salah had reduced Muslim hatred .....only in Liverpool

Just goes to show how fickle that lot are, they will abstain from it a while while he falls over nothing on their behalf.

It's never them

If it helps,  I can make unholy water, if I can obtain asparagus.

THE QUEST TO OBTAIN THE ASPARAGUS

Alternatively, try your local supermarket.

TBF to the pope, the new translation/interpretation does make sense as previously it kind of implied god might actually do the leading into temptation, which is pretty terrible of a deity to do.
But the new line .. have they thought this through, it opens up a can of worms? As if you keep getting tempted, it kind of implies he isn't listening to your prayers or is listening and just doesn't give a funky bass line about it.

I might just have a good old pray then pop to the offy later. See how it plays out.

It's ok Mouse, I have the Unholy Asparagus of Antioch, that brother maynard carries.

I believe the Christian way is that you do continually err, but do the best you can

If God had a problem with the rhetoric he might have mentioned it to the pope sooner given he's his rep on earth

I can resist everything.
Except temptation

religion is a mental illness

That's me in the corner

Going on about religion being a mental illness is also a mental illness.

if only one person in the world believed in a god he or she would be locked up its only because so many believe in the nonsense it gets a free pass

TMM....why do you believe theres an old man in the sky who knows what you do and what you  think.....why man get a grip on yourself

When I was young and was caught gripping myself I got a stern lecture about temptation.

Neither Religious zealots or rabid atheists can prove or disprove whether there is a God or not, but one thing for sure. If there is a God, believers will reap the rewards and non believers like you will be f*****. If there isn`t a God, believers will never know just like the atheists. It`s a win win situation for believers.

Heaven
A gateway to hope

Just like a feeling
I need, it's no joke

Mightymac

It’s not even close to ‘win-win’
For kick off to appease this vindictive god you have to do a lot, not least live a life under a doctrine...I’d suggest very few come close even those who believe. The religious worry and fret and are cowd their whole life....it’s the sickest man made manipulation there is, the use of the unknown as a weapon.

There is something, but religion isn’t from ‘it’, imo

Dear God, hope you get the letter and
I pray you can make it better down here
I don't mean a big reduction in the price of beer

D-Day related unholy water fact: Charles De Gaulle had the nickname "the great asparagus"!

I will make a comment here later . THANK YOU !

Good morning, Culvin.

Your views on the Peterborough byelection?

changed another bit 2, as Above in the heavens, rebecca taught me ****

TMM...what an awful reason to believe in gawd..pascals wager..dont you think your god will know your reasons.according to your theology he knows what your are thinking......according to you theology those who have accepted jesus as their saviour will be going to heaven....no other criteria....so hans frank after his capture in 1945 became a born again Christian and Jeffrey dahlmer serial killer while in prison also became a born again Christian.......by the rules of your god hans frank and JD are now enjoying themselves in heaven while their victims who some and in the case of the 6 million jews  were non believers in jesus  are  now burning in hell.........what an horrible religion

Chain yourself to this ancient vindictive conspiracy in any of its myriad forms if you must, but know that it's all bollix designed to oppress while claiming beneficence and awe as bait.

Cardiff - You are full of assumptions. Where on the thread did I even say that I believed in God? How do you know whether Hans Frank is in Heaven (if it exists) or not? You are making wild sweeping statements.

If you are an atheist, then that`s fine by me, and I respect your right to believe or disbelieve whatever you want. Faith is a personal thing, you either have it or you don`t or possibly agnostic.

What I can`t understand is why it is so important to some people to ridicule other`s beliefs? Being obsessed with atheism is just as bad (or worse) than being obsessed with Religion.

I am against religion because the harm it does...…….and its Christian theology says hans frank is in heaven...…...ironically his namesake anne frank is burning in hell ………..going by what it says in the bible

TMM...if you don't believe in god whats the rant at 2.07 all about??????????????????????????????

I neither believe or disbelieve, I have an open mind. I don`t like intolerance.

I don`t know the answer or what it`s all about, but I know that when we die it is not the end but merely the beginning.

When you're sad and when you're lonely
And you haven't got a friend
Just remember that death is not the end

I'm A Catholic , and I was raised by my Father to believe with everything that was in my child's heart , everything that The Catholic Church preached .  As a boy , I did do that , but as the years passed by , I started to have a few little thought's of my own . Those thoughts , at that time , could be summed up by my saying , What a pile of Poo . How can anyone believe in such nonsense , it's not just nonsense , it's dangerous nonsense . A Man in the sky , **** 0ff ...TO BE CONTINUED . I've got to Lidl before it closes at 8

Do you like the pecan pastries which Lidl sell, Culvin?

Yummy Yum Yum , Yes I love them , Evgeny . I love Lidl , I shop there all the time . At the moment though I'm eating in a very healthy way , so sugary delights like pecan pastries are , at the moment ,  just a delicious memory for me . EvgenyK , You've made me hungry by mentioning those pastries  , so I'll now go into the kitch and have a mush .

Oxtail soup , Houmous , Camembert cheese , yeh , that'll do me .Do you like Avocados , Evgeny ? I had one before with balsamic vinegar .

I had half an avocado today, Culvin. I must finish the other half.

You sound very disciplined.

TMM.....George bush jnr stopped funding for stem cell research for his 8 years he was in office because he believed in the old man in the sky cutting out 98% of research done in the previous 4 years...….just one example why religion is poison

but I know that when we die it is not the end but merely the beginning

Impossible to know that Mac. You might believe it or hope its true but the only certainty is that you don't know that.
I personally think that organised religion is the biggest farce and money maker in existence.

church of England worth 6.7 billion.....catholic church estimated 400 billion.....notice they sent missionaries to Africa but not food

Aka, if you had a death experience or knew someone who had, I think that you would change your mind. When I say "death" experience, I mean being clinically dead for minutes and witnessing something extraordinary. It`s hard to explain.

Read about such things but they prove absolutely nothing.
The mind is a great but also dangerous thing and capable of fantastic imagination.

science as done loads of tests mainly funded by the templeton foundation a religious organisation...…….all failed ...as does pray....lack of oxygen to the brain is bound to do strange things to people...……..but Christians see jesus……...moslims see mohammed…..hindus see their god and so on....strange that innit

they cant all be right but they can all be wrong

… whilst us normal people see Kelly Brook running towards us with glee in her eyes.

The tribespeople probably don't like Spaghetti and Meatballs or Pizza, but good point.

Read this in a book describing the true nature of the missionaries.
"They had us kneel, shut our eyes and pray to their God. When finished I stood up and opened my eyes to see our land had been taken."
All about making money.

I'm A Catholic: PART TWO .

As the years passed by , I never troubled myself with
questions about the existence of God . I didn't believe and that was
that . One very telling example of my negativity
towards religion would be when My Mother was about to die in Willowbrook Hospice , she
asked me to pray for her . I Didn't .

I'll write a little more tomorrow . ,
I've been up since 4 , and I
feel knackered

On Lidl....or was it Aldi? Who cares they the same I guess, I heard a podcast on them that was fascinating. Whichever one has the aisle with cheap variable tat in the middle got referred to as the ‘Isle of s hite’
Both those places make me think of the wheeler dealing of Del Boy trotter coming up with random merchandise.

On the supposed intolerance of non believers....what about intolerance towards them by believers?
Apparently it’s fine to use threats to coerce people into joining their cult and provide no verifiable evidence. I actually laugh at people who talk about the plight of Palestinians for eg. Religion is made in struggle, it’s about gaining redemption so why is it for the infidel to save those who belief are in a pact with Satan when both oppressed and oppressor are both equally religious hahahahaha
Religion is a ruse. It has all the hallmarks of being man made, with its absurdity evident of being created by the mind of the ill informed...if there is a creator of some kind they likely have not ratified them.

dusty....Religion is the reason the Israeli \Palestine will never be settled. They both want Jerusalem.

Dusty, if you read the thread, I said rabid atheists are just as bad as Religious zealots. Both are intolerant and nuts. hth.

Think atheists are not intolerant.I think every one should be allowed to believe in whatever crap they want to.It becomes a problem when these people want to legislate their believes.Keep religion out of politics then atheists will be happy.

To call anyone other than the religious nuts intolerant is arrant nonsense.
Only religion has or is asking for laws to prohibit people making fun of it.
Listen to the chyte the priests and ministers preach in our chapels and churches. Should be banned.

How do you know what they preach if you don`t attend?

I think someone calling someone mentally ill because they belief in God is intolerant imo. Who cares?

I used to be made go Mac.
Big difference between peoples belief in a God and believing the nonsense that is preached.
Mother Nature as good a guess as anyone for the question of is there a God.

I always get jumped on here if I dare take the piss out of St Tommy

Now that is intolerance M.

I think St Tommy blotted his copybook of recent.
