The peerless Alfred Burke is back again as Frank Marker in Public Eye, 20:30 on Talking Pictures.

Classic series - subtle and very-well written.

Makes you weep when you think of the garbage they make today.

I think the Brighton stories just edged the later ones.

Good to see them being repeated again.

Indeed.

The excellence 'Public Eye' is entirely due to script, plot, dialogue, characterisation and performance.

The production team and writers didn't feel obliged to parachute in any Left-Wing, Trans, Multicultural and/or Gay characters to get the project green-lighted. As we know all too well, this latter strategy is absolutely compulsory today, however ridiculous the result.

Have never seen this. Tonights episode is series 4, episode 2. Is it  a programme, you can watch from this point or do you need to see the earlier ones?

Would like to give  it a go.

All episodes are different cases HGS on their own.

Only thing you missed is that Frank Marker done time, got out of jail and became a private investigator.

You can watch it from series 4 with no problems understanding what's going on.

Only five episodes survive from the first three series because of the common practice in the 60s of taping over the originals... .

If you want some idea as to what happened prior to season 4, check out Wikipedia.

One thing you'll enjoy seeing is so many well-known British actors in their earliest times in the profession.

Watched last nights. The other lodger is the Major from Keeping up Appearances and the cafe owner from Porridge!

The sort of programme I will enjoy, nostalgic and all that. The Mrs fell asleep! Laugh

Did you also spot Terence Rigby (later of 'Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy') was also cast as the loudmouth biker Frank?  Laugh

I saw him in the credits but didn't recognise him. Tbf, I haven't seen tinker...
