What timbuctooth wants for BritainThe human cost of insulin in AmericaFor most of us, our bodies produce insulin naturally. But for Type 1 (T1) diabetics like Ms Marston, insulin comes in clear glass vials, handed over the pharmacy counter each month - if they can afford it.One vial of the insulin Ms Marston uses now costs $275 (£210) without health insurance. In 1923, the discoverers of insulin sold its patent for $1, hoping the low price would keep the essential treatment available to everyone who needed it.Now, retail prices in the US are around the $300 range for all insulins from the three major brands that control the market.Even accounting for inflation, that's a price increase of over 1,000%.Stories of Americans rationing insulin - and dying for it - have been making national headlines. The most famous case, perhaps, was 26-year-old Alec Smith, who died in 2017 less than a month after he aged out of his mother's health insurance plan. Despite working full-time making more than minimum wage, he could not afford to buy new insurance or pay the $1,000 a month for insulin without it.https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-47491964

The very finest providers vie for your custom, with the resultant good old fashioned competition benefiting every patient, keeping prices down Happy

The idea that competition results in lower prices is laughable - look at the state of the industries that were privatised in this country - Gas, Electric, Water, Telecoms, Trains, etc.

State run monopolies (inefficient as they were) have been replaced by privately owned cartels that are equally inefficient.

Despite unimaginable advances in technology (allowing these businesses to shred their costs and their requirement for personnel) - these businesses are able to rig their prices artificially high because the services they provide are essential for (modern) life! ... as is healthcare. You can charge what you like for the latest piece of shiny plastic "must have" sh!t because I can choose to buy it or not - but in any civilised country, government should have a role in the provision of all things that are essential to their citizens.

Sick people see doctors, healthy people don’t.

Do you get a no claims bonus if you look after yourself?

Haven't read the thread so sorry if already covered.
Not sure why we're worried as we were told at PMs questions that the NHS isn't on the table for any future trade negotiations with the USA.
Merely lies and fear tactics from the left.

It was more a case of Donald not understanding the question.

trump is a liar and a cheat.  You cannot trust anything he says on trade.  His last weeks antics on mexico tariffs breached wto rules, nafta rules and the new as yet unratified agreement.
