I don't know how to do this copy and paste thingy, but just looked it up. When Spanish broadcasters bought the rights to the show, they changed the dubbed script and Manuel became Paolo from Italy. Apparently this got no laughs so they dropped the show. A Catalan broadcaster later bought the show and they kept the name Manuel but he became Mexican

A woman on LBC this morning, hysterically slagging off Cleese over his comments, wouldn't shut up or let Ferrari get a word in to ask a question.
I thought that's exactly what Cleese means, he was on about you darling.
I'm surprised Ferrari missed that one.

Also on LBC last night with Darren Adam. Always thought he was ok, but when quite correctly was accused of being an Anglophobe, he accused the caller of hearing voices in her head. Telling someone that they are mentally deranged is not a winning tactic.

I suspect I should apologise for my affection for the Englishness of my upbringing, but in some ways I found it calmer, more polite, more humorous, less tabloid, and less money-oriented than the one that is replacing it."
not sure i see too much wrong with that, if he wasnt living overseas i might take him more seriously.

James O'Brien is not above insulting callers over their views either.
These rude presenters should be taught to realise that callers night be under a lot of pressure in their lives, and just need to let off steam. Insulting them on the air could be enough to push them over the edge.

What's living oversees got to do with an observation about London?
I don't live in London either, so can't I comment because I don't live there?

Dr Crippen • May 30, 2019 11:42 AM BST Can't stand James O'Brien.
I'm with you on James nO'Brain . The rudest most arrogant radio presenter I've ever had the misfortune to listen to . That said , tuning in is addictive

you answered your question in the line after you asked it
So what was that supposed to mean if you didn't agree with it?
Try laying your cards on the table when you've been called out.

Cleese was born in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, the only child of Reginald Francis Cleese (1893–1972), an insurance salesman (whose father was an insurance clerk), and his wife Muriel Evelyn (née Cross, 1899–2000, the daughter of an auctioneer).[1] His family's surname was originally Cheese, but his father had thought it was embarrassing and changed it when he enlisted in the Army during the First World War.[2] As a child, Cleese supported Bristol City FC and Somerset County Cricket Club.[3][4] Cleese was educated at St Peter's Preparatory School (paid for by money his mother inherited[5]), where he received a prize for English and did well at cricket and boxing. When he was 13, he was awarded an exhibition at Clifton College, an English public school in Bristol. He was already more than 6 feet (1.83 m) tall by then.
Cleese allegedly defaced the school grounds, as a prank, by painting footprints to suggest that the statue of Field Marshal Earl Haig had got down from his plinth and gone to the toilet.[6] Cleese played cricket in the First XI and did well academically, passing 8 O-Levels and 3 A-Levels in mathematics, physics, and chemistry.[7][8] In his autobiography So, Anyway, he says that discovering, aged 17, he had not been made a house prefect by his housemaster affected his outlook: "It was not fair and therefore it was unworthy of my respect ... I believe that this moment changed my perspective on the world."

Still though, people on twitter being "offended" and calling people racist for making fact based observations.
Has this happened before? Hope it doesn't become a trend..

there is a very political incorrect sketch in one of the fawlty towers episodes its when the general is watching cricket at the oval with his ladyfriend posting what was said in the sketch now would be considered a hate crime so i am TOO AFRAID TO SPEAK ABOUT IT IN PUBLIC

Indeed Duke, and needless to say, the offending sketch had to be cut from a BBC screening a few years back, in a sublime example of rewriting history. .https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/tvandradioblog/2013/jan/23/fawlty-towers-isnt-racist-majo
What was regarded as poor taste then is now regarded as a hate crime.
Which shows how far we've gone down this slippery slope.
The idea that showing you don't like someone because they're different to you should be a crime, is a crime in itself.

I was a little shocked at the non PC language in an episode of Porridge I caught the other day, they had a warning beforehand but still :) I was so frightened I ended up cuddling my Gollywog for comfort!

Its an agenda Doc designed to stop free speech and thought
Well they've gagged the politicians, media and anyone else in the public's eye.
Not to mention the council workers who can be dismissed for expressing an opinion.
The council that denied the UKIP couple a chance to foster a child over their membership in UKIP under Farage, was a case of persecution for political beliefs. That's how bad it is now.

JC - the black b***** line? It's brilliant and of course true. Mclaren is a gentleman of colour and illegitmate
Sad Khan hit back at Cleese saying London's 'strength' is its diversity. They certainly thrust those knives with some welly..
