Which shows The BBC controllers have more in common with Jamie Oliver than they have with 25,000 industrial workers.

The BBC must consider Jamie Oliver is more important. I suppose they never get free lunches or go to free parties with industrial workers. And who knows what else?
They see industrial workers as only being there to fund the license fee.
And if they don't fund it someone else will.

The BBC as strong supporters of the EU will always play down the EU's role in BS's demise.

This is a fair example of how BBC misspend money taken from taxpayers, and further evidence that they need to be taken down a peg or two.

Sadly, we live in a celebrity obsessed world. Your average punter is more interested in Jamie Oliver than British Steel.

Many say it should be broken up and sold off.

Whilst not an insignificant sum, the BBC collected £3.7 billion in licence fees in 2013/14 plus a further £1.3 billion of commercial income from other sources. To imagine that an infrastructure of pro EU bias has been put in place as a result of the receipt of a £2.3 million grant is somewhat fanciful.

It is. Banks won't lend if they think the borrower will default!  Yet the media and the local MP seem to expect the Govt to step in.

We could always price Chinese steel out of the market, but then that would be Trumpesque and deeply unpopular with his haters.

If we had left the EU by now, UK could have given preferential tax relief on energy which was,apparently a big factor in failure to continue with an outstanding energy bill of some size to pay.They might also have been able to negotiate a separate trade deal with China to reduce imports or charge tariffs to prevent dumping steel bound for USA until Trump acted.They could also have given preferential access to UK markets for our own steelmaking such as MOD ships,etc. But no,our MP's want to stay in the EU and protect financial jobs in London.And they wonder why UK voted to Leave !

Donnny can't help himself, when he's caught out cherry picking an article to push his agenda, he then cherry picks from the damning piece he omitted, that stated:

I'd be surprised anyway if the government directly bought the steel, surely it's subccontracted to a specialist scaffolding company? Maybe that's a bit too real world and how the construction industry works for Donny..

And indeed, the scaffolding was sub contracted to PHD Modular Access who no doubt had a pile of the stuff already and will use what they've bought on subsequent jobs, and this was I presume sub contacted by McAlpine.

That this virtual non story is such a big issue and considered "damning" of the Tories by some .. says a lot about lefties and their experience of "business"..
