Absolutely reeks of a publicity stunt.  And a good one - they're in the news.  Either it didn't really happen (actors) or if it did then £4,500 is a bargain for the publicity they have received.

even more of a bargain when you see what they paid for it at trade prices

wine and champagne is an utter scam!

Interestingly Grant, as you go up the scale into very fine wines, the mark-up in Restaurants is mostly lower in percentage terms than in the mid price range and lower. The current market price for 2001 Le Pin is about £3k a bottle - you'll struggle to buy a single bottle though; that is the price for a case of 12 and there were only 500 cases of this vintage. So a 50% mark up is quite "reasonable", if anything at that price can be so described.

Aye, agree with libertine it's a bit like when you see Billy's or Joke Oral saying some mug has won £300k on a 10p acca. Wink

Anyone tried that £1 a bottle wine? They are really scraping the barrel with that stuff.

£1 bottles of wine usually have a corn pad in them.
