Is having a pony-tail a sign of a mid-life crisis?
Or just the sign of being a tw@t? (Obviously any chit-chatters with pony-tails not included) |

On a sailing trip from The Azores to Gibraltar back in June 2011, we arrived a few days late, my plans to travel around southern Spain blown out of the water as it were.
We tied up, had a land based shower and went for something to eat. Next morning, I had to make a dash to get myself out of Gibraltar, make my way to Malaga to try and pick up a flight to Madrid. All a bit rushed, but all successfully achieved and I made my flight back to Dubai. In the rush, I hadn't bothered to shave and upon arrival at home, the wife decided that she liked it. It has remained in place ever since. When it first started becoming more grey than black, dye was applied. But this submission to vanity was short-lived, and I decided to let nature take its course. I use a trimmer, set at No.1 for my beard and No.2 for what remains of my hair. Good idea to take some photographs of yourself and ponder over them in a state of solitude to help you make your decision as to whether you will make the bear a permanent feature. Avoid the goatee look at all costs. |

By the way, I picked up 14 nights on board, 1,369 tidal nautical miles, 90 night hours, and a maximum wind of F8 on that trip.
Making our way through the Straits of Gibraltar was a nightmare, we'd tack over to the Moroccan side and make some eastward progress, before tacking to the Spanish side and proceeding to bounce up and down on the spot for what seemed like an eternity. I recall that I was following Andy Murray taking on Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros via my Blackberry whilst we attempted to reach land, dreaming that he'd somehow make the final. Didn't even manage a set, Nadal going through 64 74 64. He gubbed Roger in the final next day 75 76 57 61. |
