Laughing at Knight Commander - not you Conditor.

Bad luck mate - Let's hope the toe-rag(s) get what they deserve.

I know damn all about plastering so while I am sorry about your loss, and hope the thieves are soon caught, why are the trowels irreplaceable (especially if not expensive)?
Report saddo April 27, 2019 6:16 PM BST
Same as a snooker cue or golf club I would imagine, they feel right.
Report Just Checking April 27, 2019 6:44 PM BST
Did you have a DAB or FM device, and what did it look like?
A guy down the pub said last time he saw my wife he'd left looking like a plasterer's radio, I'm still not sure what he meant.

The phrasing of the above looks like genuine naivety.

So i'm going -  PMSL.

Feel for you conditor, tools are sacred. I have a phillips ratchet screwdriver from the day i finished my apprenticeship 28 years ago and it is still going strong.

1.01 plod won't be interested.
Report Crisp77 April 28, 2019 8:00 AM BST
Agreed. They are unlikely to send out cracker.
Report Angoose April 28, 2019 9:52 AM BST
The latest advice from insurance companies is to have all plastering gear fitted with GPS microchips.
That way, you can track it all the way to Loadsamoney's garden shed.
Report Angoose April 28, 2019 9:54 AM BST
But seriously, what is the likelihood that this opportunistic thief is a plasterer?
Did somebody nick the gear simply because they knew it would cause an inconvenience to the owner?
Report screaming from beneaththewaves April 28, 2019 10:05 AM BST
Probably end up getting fly-tipped once the thief's found a rural beauty spot.
Report scaredmoney April 28, 2019 12:05 PM BST
DeWalt have  brought out a fake battery with a GPS tracker in it.....a wise investment sir
Report lybertyne April 28, 2019 12:12 PM BST
A family friend had her phone stolen.  Managed to track it down to a house, told the police but they weren't interested.
Report cooperman April 28, 2019 12:55 PM BST
Stealing a workers tools is despicable.
Report conditor April 28, 2019 2:21 PM BST
To be fair the police were ok. Informed me that a spate of vans and sheds had been robbed in the last fortnight.. I won’t be leaving doors open in future (idiot) .its just the trowels will take a few weeks to bed new ones in.makes the job bloody hard workSad
Report screaming from beneaththewaves April 28, 2019 2:58 PM BST
Please let us know whether you get the job you went to look at.

Probably a druggy, sell the lot for the price of a wrap.

OP.
Why did you leave your van unlocked ?
Report conditor April 28, 2019 3:23 PM BST
No screaming I didn’t ,quoted £300 for a artex ceiling ,chimney breast and 4 walls including mats, got a text this morning, the girls father knows a handy man who will do it for £200.Cry good luck with that one
Report prepared83 April 28, 2019 3:28 PM BST
what part of the country conditor?
Report conditor April 28, 2019 3:34 PM BST
I’m in Derby ,the job was in Tutbury staffs.
Report screaming from beneaththewaves April 28, 2019 4:07 PM BST
Speaking as a homeowner in the SW, I would have budgeted four or five hundred quid for that job, while hoping to get it done for three or four.

Don't know how anyone could be making a living doing it for two (unless they're "borrowing" the equipment, I suppose).

I vaguely know Tutbury, from the route to Uttoxeter races. It's the sort of place where the only crime you'd expect to see would be a middle-class, DCI Barnaby-style murder. If you can't leave your van unlocked there, where can you?
Report Whisperingdeath April 29, 2019 7:50 PM BST
cut their fceking goolies off!
Report Jack Hacksaw April 30, 2019 7:50 AM BST
Whatever happened to the Chit Chat Detective Agency?  In the old days the case would have been solved within the day.

Clearly there is a criminal gang involving the girl, her father and, possibly, his mate.

Report screaming from beneaththewaves April 30, 2019 10:11 AM BST
I agree with Hacksaw.

How else can you make a living doing the job for £200, unless you're not having to pay for the equipment?
Report Do wah Diddy April 30, 2019 1:01 PM BST
That's nothing I once mowed half the lawn on my mams front garden  on our council estate .I only mowed half because I get tired very easily and was going to mow the other half the next day.when we got up someone had stolen the half that had been mowed and left the other half that hadn't

My mam told me then to mow the lawn that had been left .I told her straight no I'm not they will come back for it if I mow it
